We love this place. It's quiet, small & is close to the beach. It is clean. The rooms are small but well maintained.Across the street is The Blue Pig. It has delicious breakfasts & lunches. The Brown Room & Boiler Room offer nice live music options. It's always a nice retreat.

Room Tip: No elevator for second or third floor.Just steps. Luggage carrying can be an issue. It has a Starbucks coffee shop in the lounge.

This was our 1st time at the Star. At check in it would have been nice to be informed that we were on the top floor of the Inn. No help with luggage was offered & there were 5 steep stairways to climb. After the experience of getting our things to the room we were shocked to find that the bathroom was not connected. Entrance was across the firescape hall & everyone had access. When using the bath you could not lock up your room. In both the room & bath the walls were so slanted that you couldn't stand up straight. Heads were bumped several times. First time we have ever checked out early. After spending the 1st day planning the number of times we could handle the 5 stairways, we were exhausted & checked out. The Star Inn is adults only but anyone who is middle aged should be informed of the challenges involved.

Room Tip: Rooms 6-9 are on the top floor & very difficult to climb to. Room 8 bathroom was seperate from the room & while using, the room could not be locked. Spend the extra money & stay at Congress Hall. You get what you pay for.

My wife and I wanted to spend 2 days in Cape May for Bird Watching activities and a quick stop over on the way to Baltimore from our home in Cape Cod. Reservations were made last minute and were efficient but now don't know the benefits of being upgraded to a room on the top floor of the Star Inn (we were told of the benefits of an ocean view, which existed, but was marginal) instead of being offered a full room on the second floor. The bathroom ceiling was slanted and we had difficulty standing up comfortably.

I realize this was off season and limited staffing but we waited for over 25 minutes to be checked in while some Coast Guard enlisted sailors were taken care of. Our initial lack of regional knowledge concerning the basic training center located nearby was later clarified and we felt no downside to the wait. We admire the dedication and appreciate the rigorous demands placed on these hard working folks.

The on desk manager was very pleasant when we finally were helped and his eyes lit up when my wife mentioned Birding. He was gracious and offered suggestions for trips. WIFi initial activation was unsuccessful but a quick call to the front desk resulted in a pretty good signal for my laptop and my wife's kindle.

We had been upgraded to a package for 125th congressional retreat discounts on food and drink ;the restaurant manager and staff were very accommodating when we asked for some flexibility. Server was great, food well prepared, the place was busy and we felt well cared for.

The NJ Audubon staff and facilities were very accommodating. The critical role Cape May plays in the migration of many bird species, the history of the area, the wonderful people we met gave us a beautiful set of memories we cherish.

If we visit again, during bird migration periods, we would definitely consider staying in the hotel vs the inn if the room accommodations were priced in reasonable terms. I scored the pool and fitness center low because off season and we don't go to spas (an additional coupon was issued for spa participation, which might be a draw for some).

We have never visited Cape May and would like to return in the future. The area was enchanting, although it can imagine it being very crowded during the summer season. We can see why this is the first national seacoast resort in the USA and everyone we met was engaged and pleasant. Dinner in the Brown Room at the Congress Hall was very good, breakfast at the Mad Batter was also very good.

Thanks Cape May for a 2 day stop over,
Moe

We recently stayed one night at the Star Inn in Cape May. It was within easy walking distance to the beach and town. We stayed in room #5 which we were told was a larger room but did not have an ocean view. We were only staying one night so having an ocean view wasn't high on our list. The room and adjoining bathroom were clean, modern, and appeared well maintained. The king size bed was comfortable with good quality linens and provided a good night's sleep. We were definitely impressed with the The Blue Pig Tavern (please see our separate review) at Congress Hall. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

Very nice B&B right in Cape May - close to beach and town, across from Congress Hall. Our package allowed sue of the Sea Spa at Congress Hall. Nice decor. I always feel a good luxurious bed make the room and our room was perfect. Roomy with down pillows and comforter. The Blue Pig Tavern in Congress Hall had amazing food. We back the second night it was that good. Loved it!
