Really great food. Really. But the bad location has this family run Mexican joint hurting a bit. We go for takeout and it is great. It is a once a week order for us. Super nice folks serving really great food... and plenty of it for the price. Highly recommended.

My husband and I hadn't planned on having Mexican food for dinner OR eating at this place, BUT once we saw the sign driving into Cape May, we both wanted Mexican for dinner. We were a bit hesitant at first as the restaurant was almost empty on a Friday night, but we thought we'd give it a try anyway. What a pleasant surprise! Not only was the food tasty, but the portions were great, the price was right, and the service was friendly! We hit a homerun! We think this place doesn't get as much business as it should because of its location and lack of ample parking. Don't be put off by external factors...give it a try if you like Mexican food. Also, it's BYOB. Always a bonus!

Texan's know Mexican, and 5 De Mayo gets high market from this family of transplanted Texans. The carne dishes were excellent,as were the enchiladas and beef and chicken Fajitas. The menu is a bit eclectic but all the good dishes are there. The food is fresh and well presented. You can't forget the chips and salsa, good chips with three classic dips were a nice way to start the meal. It's BYOB too. Don't be put off by the parking the entrance is a tight turn off the main road coming into Cape May ( Route 109 ) across from South Jersey marina. Give this one a try...we keep coming back.

We needed a quick bite before going on a tour. Even though, we were the only ones there, the waitress/hostess did not attend to us very well, as we had to get up several times to ask for something, including our bill. I am rating the food and deco Very Good, and the waitress, Poor. Perhaps she could use some training. But I would go there again, as I liked the food and the prices.

Large, well-prepared portions of traditional Mexican-American fare with friendly, attentive service and reasonable prices ($11 to $17 for most entree items). Beverages are $2.75. Parking is limited as is restaurant seating, especially for larger groups. There is no seating in the indoor waiting area. The table seats themselves appear to be re-purposed from a diner and while generally comfortable, may be a little small for some individuals. In short, a generally good casual dining choice for day trippers.
