“Disappointing...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We had a very disappointing experience on this walking tour. We went on the 10:00PM tour following the dinner theater (which was a lot of fun!). We were having such a good time that we didn't want the night to end and as a result signed up for the ghost tour. Unfortunately, we were disappointed.

The tour guide, Kaitlyn, was in a rush throughout the whole tour. She walked speed-walked backwards, talked a mile a minute, and did not stop for more than 10 seconds for her guests to take in the stories or the buildings she was referring to.

We had an expectant mother on the tour in addition to two individuals with various knee and hip injuries. When these guests expressed that the tour was going too fast, the tour guide basically ignored them and continued.

The sidewalks of Cape May can be uneven, narrow and crowded (even later at night). Moving so quickly through the tour was a hazard, left us with little to be remembered, and as a result made it utterly unenjoyable.

When we returned to Elaine's, Kaitlyn explained that she would wait "awkwardly for two minutes" for tips before running to catch her bus. I guess that's why we all had to run around like crazy people in the middle of the night in Cape May. So she could catch her bus.

If you are interested in this tour, perhaps look at an earlier time. Or try to get the other tour guide.

“So much fun!”

Our family--ages 62 to 6--loved this tour of some of the 'haunts' of Cape May. As many other reviewers have mentioned, our tour guide "Joe" made it very entertaining, including even the youngest in his presentation. He kept us laughing and informed for an hour that passed much too quickly. Spent some time before the tour at Elaine's. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Tour began on time and moved quickly. I would recommend this tour to fans of Cape May history and anyone else who enjoys a good time. Two thumbs enthusiastically up!

“Disappointing”

My daughters and I have enjoyed several interesting and exciting ghost tours over the years in various locations (Key West, Williamsburgh, VA). When visiting with family who rented a house in Cape May for the week, based on our previous experiences, we thought it would be fun to join this Ghost tour with them at night. (Husband, wife and two teenage boys). We opted for the 10 PM tour so it would be dark and spooky. I am sorry to say that we were very disappointed. Although some of the stories had great potential to be interesting, the girl leading the tour was a terrible story teller. She attempted to be funny, but was not, and chattered non-stop about totally unrelated subjects. After reading other reviews, it appears that other people had more positive experiences with another tour guide. In hindsight I am sorry we did not read these reviews prior to taking the tour. Again, the tour has great potential with the right guide. Unfortunately it was not ours :)

“Nice quick tour”

Went to Cape May for a one night stay and didn't know much about the town besides the beautiful beaches. Our guide was Caitlyn (I hope I spelled it right) and she was great. Very energetic. The tour is about a half hour to 45 minutes long and gave us some fun facts about Cape May! If you are looking for a detailed drawn out history lesson this is not the tour for you. If you are looking for a fun low cost family oriented experience then it's perfect!
