Who knew a hot dog could have so many options?! If you arrive during lunch time, you will have plenty of time to review the menu while on line (recommend a cold water bottle to beat the heat). We were very pleased with our selections: Junkyard Dog, Thunder Dog, leaner weiner Chicago Dog, cole slaw, cranberry cole slaw, and slushies. Heads up, cash only. Our only regret is not having visited this efficient establishment on prior visits to Cape May.

This is a must-see and must-eat stop in Cape May. First of all because the hot dogs, and their numerous delicious incarnations, are delicious. (The newest addition: the All-American, which is a hot dog with white cheddar cheese, baked beans, and bacon strips. Yes!) The second reason is Hot Dog Tommy himself, who has perfected his patter after many years and still seems to enjoy every minute of his day in the small, street-side venue. Yes, there will be lines, but they move quickly. (Get there when he opens and you'll likely beat the crowds.) Great selection of beverages to compliment the dogs, too. I always go for the "Leaner Wiener" variety because it leaves enough room for another dog later in the day, but there's a larger option as well. Enjoy!

I have gone to Cape May for years. I have been meaning to see what the lines are all about here all along. Do you like hot dogs? If you even said a little then you need to stop here for a quick lunch while you are on the beach. The owner (I assume it's Tommy with the hot dog hat) is a riot. So full of happy you can't help but leave with a smile. The dogs are all creative and really very delicious. The mashed potato tornado is indulgent and will cure any rough night before stomach. The ordering system is simple and really kept the line moving. This is like lunch and a show at a hot dog stand if that is possible. This place is great, I will go every year and I wish I started long ago. Well done Tommy! Now I know how a hot dog stand ends up near the top of a list of restaurants! Btw the prices are so reasonable the guy ahead of me insisted they got his order wrong, it couldn't have been that inexpensive! Tommy said he would happily charge him more but the price is the price and its really fair!

I am not a patient person who likes to wait on line for anything, so wait on a line that stretches around the corner for a hot dog?? You bet! As long as it is from Hot Dog Tommy's. The 50 people in front of you couldn't be wrong. Whether you try the leaner wiener with just yellow mustard and sauerkraut, or go for the thunder dog, your taste buds will not know what hit them! Wash it all down with a frozen Stewart's root beer and then plan on waiting on line again tomorrow. Never thought a hot dog could taste so good. Go right when they open for the shortest wait time. All to go...no seating just eating!

I'm not a hot dog person but the kids all went for lunch our first day! For under $25 the five kids got a variety of hot dogs and one got a salad! All was finger licking good. We walked by everyday a few times and the line is usually heaviest mid afternoon and the smell is delicious. Go try it!!!
