Staff is fantastic, location, second to none. You can walk anywhere. Park your car on property and walk across the street to the Washington mall, or walk a block and a half to the beach. You are pretty much within one to six blocks of most things in cape May. Also, really great pool. Would have given five stars, but to get that you have to have some type of late night food, like a restaurant on premises. Been staying for years.

Room Tip: Go for the one bedroom suite. If You happen to have a friend stay over the bedroom has a door separa...

James,
First we love the fact that you have been staying with us for years. We are thrilled that you took the time to fill out a review about us for future guests. We certainly don't mind being held to such high standards, but as a motel we don't see food or beverage in the near future.
There are many great places all with in a block of our location as you aptly pointed out. So while we will have to take your four star rating on a curve, next time we will look for five.
Reviews are the best way for us to know we are hitting the mark and were glad you think so.

We drove down to Cape May on a friday after work with no reservations or plans. We tried a few places that we were book and then we walked into the Victorian and they had a room available for the weekend. We got the Efficiency Suite because it was all that was available and they gave us a great rate on the room because it was all they had left.

Our room had a living room, small kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom with two full size beds. The room was clean, large, and well kept. Our room looked straight down onto the Washington Mall. Couldn't have chosen a better spot. We parked the car on Friday and didn't get back in until we drove home on Sunday. Couldn't have been happier. Right next door to Congress Hall, so we used their bars and restaurants, and then just walked home.

Only reason we gave 4 circles instead of 5 was because the hotel was a little loud. We could hear the people next to us, who had kids, who were up early. But it is a family hotel, and I guess that comes with the territory. And the beds were a little hard. Overall, great place! Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Victorian Motel for the first time last July and just booked our return trip for this year. My husband and I have been coming to Cape May every year since 2008 and usually stay at one of the bed and breakfasts. However, now we have a little guy of our own and thought we would give the Victorian Motel a try. Well you CAN NOT beat it for convenience, location, and ammenities. The room was very clean and having the kitchenette area is a real plus when you have kids! Our room was on the ground floor right by the pool, which my son enjoyed as well. Their are not a lot of hotels in town with a pool and a kids pool, when you just dont want to trek to the beach with all of the things that come along with having a baby. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming. Located only a couple blocks from the beach and right in the center of the shops and restaurants, we will continue to come here year after year for sure!
**One more plus, parking RIGHT ON premisis, which you also do not find with a lot of the bed and breakfasts in town.

My other half surprised me with a weekend getaway to Cape May and we stayed in a suite at the wonderful Victorian Motel. From the time we checked in until the time we checked out, John & Co were wonderfully accommodating. The room was updated with a granite counter top and all and as clean as could be.
Right in the heart of the Cape, the Victorian Motel is a short stroll to the promenade, shopping, and restaurants.
We highly recommend the Victorian for any type of getaway! And be sure to say hi to John!

I can’t say enough good things about John Cooke and the entire staff at the Victorian Motel in Cape May. I’ve traveled all over the world and have never had better service. Everyone there made me feel more like family than just a guest. The room was clean and the motel location is very well situated to explore much of Cape May on foot and the rest is just a short drive away. This is a great value and the people really care about helping to make your visit the best it can be.

I enjoy Cape May off season and Victorian Motel is always my hotel of choice. You cannot beat the location. Once you park your auto you can walk to the beach, mall, super market, liquor store, shops, city hall, churches, and restaurants. The staff are just the greatest and very accommodating.

My family has been staying at this motel for over 15 years. It's in a wonderful location just steps from the outdoor mall and a short walk to the beach. There are great restaurants, lovely shops and fun attractions close by. The atmosphere at this motel is very family-friendly; it's homey and down-to-earth. The staff is very helpful and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. The rates are reasonable and there are several types of rooms to choose from. The rooms are decorated in a simple, casual style, and are spotlessly clean. You can really relax here with kids because there is nothing fancy to worry about breaking or damaging. The plates in the kitchenette don't match, but who cares? You're on vacation! If you want sumptuous luxury, go to one of the deluxe hotels on the beachfront and pay triple the price. But if you want a nice, easygoing motel with a great pool, an outdoor barbecue and nice amenities for you and your family, come to the Victorian. It's even nice in the winter time...the mall is beautifully decorated with sparkling lights, there are year-round restaurants with good food, and many of the shops are open on the weekend.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have a mini-fridge, but if you need a microwave get a deluxe room with a kitchenett...
