“Great Location for a Cape May Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

My boyfriend and I were unfortunately only able to stay one night at the Victorian Motel (we booked our stay only a few weeks before and they were full up), but we were happy to be so close to the shops and the beach. Everything was virtually outside our door and that's exactly what we were looking for. The Motel was clean and quiet and we were very comfortable. And knowing that we wanted to stay another night in Cape May the staff were extraordinarily helpful in giving us the names and numbers of nearby motels that could give us a room in a pinch.

This was our first time at the Victorian. Walked passed it last year while on a day trip. Booked it the next week, and so glad we did. Centrally located, this hotel allowed for the full Cape May experience! Room was very clean, and updated. Friendly staff. 1/2 block to beach, stores and restaurants right outside your door..yet surprisingly very quiet at night.
Kids loved it too! Nice pool. Only minor *critiques*..no tv or A/C unit in bedroom(we had the 2 room eff), and the pool does close early..7:00.
This is the ONLY hotel we would stay at while in Cape May! Thanks for a great experience.

For many years we have been staying at the Victorian Hotel and what a great place. We just returned from this hotel again and the hotel is an excellent place to stay. The hotel is mostly families and each unit gets one parking spot. We stay in the the suites on the first floor and the hotel is spotless. The hotel is right at the tip of the Washington Street Mall and a long block to the beach. The owner is always on site so if you ever have any questions, John is always willing to help you out. The cleaning staff really work hard.
There are three floors and also an elevator. There is also a kitty pool - however - I wish there were more umbrella's around the pool and more comfortable chairs.
The air conditioning is in the front room - however we turned it on high and absolutely could feel it back in the bedroom. There is no TV is the bedroom which I personally like.
I addressed a problem with John - someone was saving a table for later in the day and put a cooler and towels on a table with an umbrella and the people after 1 1/2 hours never came out. They were saving the table for later. John immediately said he would handle the situation.
If you are thinking about this hotel - go - you will be very happy with it. There is a reason it is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. I rarely - if ever - have given any hotel a 5 star rating.

We just returned from 4 great nights at the Victorian Motel.
This property is perfect for families. First off, the location is amazing facing the Washington Street Mall. The motel is about a block to beach and surrounded by restaurants, ice cream shops, arcades, mini golf, candy stores, etc. There is also an ACME and liquor store a few blocks away. We walked everywhere and didn't need a car for any part of our stay.
We stayed in room 310 which had a bedroom with 2 double beds, living room with pull out couch, dining table and kitchenette. It was not andy but perfect and family friendly. Our room was on 3rd floor and had 2 chairs outside our door which overlooked the pool.
The pool was huge and had lots of chairs, tables and umbrellas to use. There were also several outside BBQ's for families to use in pool area and on a 2rd floor patio area.
Minor issues are only air conditioner and tv are in living area but didn't really miss either. We had a decent breeze from bedroom windows and one tv was enough.
Check in and out here easy and staff very nice. We will be back.

We used to stay in Wildwood Crest and have visited Cape May many times. Last year we stayed at a B&B in Cape May and this year we decided to try the Victorian Motel always remembering it as the hotel at the end of Washington Mall.

We knew going in what to expect. It is an older motel that will not have the latest amenities , but is kept clean, has a great location, very convenient and a pool for the children. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay especially for the kids. We stayed in a two room efficiency and did not feel crowded.

The location can't be beat. Within two minutes you are in the mall. Within five minutes you are at the beach. There are many restaurants nearby including the Blue Pig at Congress Hall. Lodging in Cape May have some of the highest prices rooms in the country. Given the type of hotel and the location the overall price of the room is appropriate.

A few recommendations for the hotel staff:

1) The WiFi does not work. I tried from multiple locations on the property and at different times. I could never get connection on an iPod, iPhone or iPad. It may work in the office, but certainly not on the third floor.

2) There is only a single air conditioner in a two-room efficiency. Even when keeping the door open, the back room does not get very cool.

3) There should be a second television in the bedroom so you can unwind on the bed after the kids have gone to sleep.

Overall it was a good experience and we would stay at the Victorian Motel the next time we are in Cape May.

Mr. Bielan,

We can't thank you enough for the thoughtful and balanced review of your stay. We truly appreciate the time you took to write it out and share with us. We apologize about the connectivity issues during your stay. I checked our logs, and we may have had an issue with an out-side repeater, which we think has been addressed.
Our team will take a serious look at your other reccommedations and see how they can be implemented.
We're happy you remembered us and gave us a try, we hope you'll become a regular visitor.
Thanks again,
John

We had a wonderful trip to Cape May. John and his staff were pleasant, competent, and very professional. The cleaning staff really worked hard and quick. The location is the best in Cape May. If we had questions regarding where in Cape May we could find a particular service, John was right there with the answer. We have been coming to Cape May and the Victorian for many years. Hopefully, next year's trip will be just as enjoyable. I know that by staying in the Victorian, that part of the trip will be great!!!!!

Again another GREAT stay at the Victorian. This was the 10th yr. that we have stayed there. My friends and I cannot thank John and staff enough. Clean rooms , not sure what Julie Z is talking about. John and staff have always been very nice and helpful. And of course we have our room reserved for next year.
