“Great Location, that Feels Like Home!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012

We picked the Victorian Motel because of the combination of excellent reviews on TA, as well as the affordability. The location is extremely convenient - right across from the beginning of the Washington Street Mall, right across the street from Congress Hall and the Blue Big Tavern, and a short distance to West Cape May. The staff was friendly, the room extremely clean and the atmosphere was fun and hospitable. We stayed in room 210 and were pleased that there was an elevator to help take bags up to the room. The room was divided into two rooms, which would be nice for families traveling with children. We were pleasantly surprised to find a newer style small refrigerator, a microwave, sink and even coffee maker. There are also a few plates, cups, etc. if you want to have meals in your room - but bring your own dish soap and dish towels. In the "living room", there is a pull out sofa, table and television for lounging in the room. The pool is very nice, although the hours to use it are a bit restrictive - from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. We were also happy to find a covered area to keep our bicycles out of the rain. Decor of the room was simple, but much better than most comparable motels in that price range, and quite tasteful! Added bonus: Tabitha the cat that lives on property is a great pet fix for those of us that have left our "babies" at home!
The Victorian Motel is a great affordable and comfortable choice when staying in Cape May!!!

Room Tip: Almost all of the rooms look out over the pool area!

We have stayed at The Victorian Motel for many years. It is located at the Perry Street end of the Washington Mall (where all the great shops are located) and 2 blocks from the beach. It doesn't get any better. The staff are very friendy and accomodating, the room is kept clean and the pool is beautiful. I know I will be staying here for years to come.....

All the other reviewers are pretty spot on! My friends and I decided on taking a quick, last-minute trip to Cape May over Labor Day Weekend, and we lucked out on snagging one of the handful of rooms remaining at the Victorian Motel. We were highly pleased when we arrived: our room with kitchenette was spacious and clean; we loved lounging by the pool; nice to park our car in the lot without worrying for the rest of the weekend; and cannot stress enough how convenient the location is! Of course, it would be lovely to stay at a Cape May B&B to really take advantage of the town's charms, but Victorian Motel is a really great alternative! And yes, price point for the area is totally reasonable.

Room Tip: The room with kitchenette would be perfect for family or group of friends staying for more than 1 ni...

The Victorian is a 2 star motel (think slightly nicer Super 8) which is elevated to 4 Trip Advisor stars thanks to a great location, reasonable rates (for Cape May), and a very friendly and helpful staff.

The Good: Reasonable sized room with fridge and microwave, new flat screen TV, very clean. Onsite pool good for kids before/after beach along with shuffleboard to keep them amused. Location is perfect for beach, shopping, bike riding, etc. Very helpful staff.

Not as Good: The AC in our unit sounded like a Sherman tank at idle (loud) and just barely kept up with heat and humidity. The beds are quite firm and the linens were just so-so. Also, the plumbing stack from upper floors runs between the rooms, so a flush from upstairs in the middle of the night sounds like Niagra Falls. The furnishing and fixtures are not especially modern or stylish, though they are functional.

As others have written, as long as you go in with the right expectations (it's not a Hilton), you'll be happy.

Room Tip: Corner rooms and upper floors may be prefereable from a noise/privacy perspective

I have never written a review before but this time I felt I had to. We've stayed at 4 star hotels and when I saw "motel" I must admit that I had low expectations. But this motel was great. It's located within walking distance of restaurants, the Washington Street Mall and the beach (we only used our car to go to the Cape May County Zoo and the Whale Watcher). The rooms were very neat and clean. Our kids loved the pool (we have 2 toddlers) and the view was spectacular. We stayed in the efficiency room. Our only complaint is that we didn't book sooner so we could get a one bedroom suite. But next year, we'll be sure to book sooner!

Every year we spend a week at the Victorian Motel and it always the highlight of our summer. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable and the location is perfect. You are literally right in the center of all the action. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful making for an even more pleasant stay. Overall an excellent motel. I highly recommend it. We're looking forward to seeing everyone next summer. Thanks John, to you and your entire staff.

My wife and I have stayed at the Victorian several times over the years. In the last year we prefer to go off season, or just before things pop and it gets crazy Cape May busy. This motel is located in an excellent spot. it is about 2 blocks from the beach and right across the street from the Washington Street Mall. This motel is well kept and very clean. The staff is ultra friendly. You can tell that the folks that stay here have been staying here for years. Our room has been recently updated with a new bathroom, nice size TV and a very comfortable mattress. Sleep was good. The air conditioning and heating system worked great, and on a nice night , you can open the windows.
This is a nice place with nice staff, and all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay in CM

John Cooke, your host, does an excellent job to accomodate his guests.
