The history and view from the lighthouse is fantastic. The lighthouse historians have so much information about this site that you will leave knowing more about this lighthouse than when you started.

Unfortunately we couldn't climb up the lighthouse because it was closed. There was no info about opening hours posted at entrance area.

The view was lovely though crowded. I got to see it from the ferry as well as after we docked and I hope to get more pictures of it. I could use a bit more area for parking for visitors.

Unfortunately, the lighthouse has limited hours off-season and we weren't able to go inside or climb to the top. We should have realized that before visiting since a lot of the tourist attractions are closed during the week in winter. But the visitor center was open and we were able to learn something about the lighthouse, local wildlife and migratory birds. There is also a display of items collected from the ocean and shores, including old coins, fossils and metal objects from old ships. Parking is plentiful and everything, including restrooms and wheelchair accessible walkways, is very well maintained.

Every time we visit Cape may we walk the cove to the Lighthouse. It is conserved by the Mid-atlantic Consortium (MAC). The well taken care of lighthouse allows you ascend to the very top where the top affords an excellent 360 degree view. It is physically demanding so do not attempt the climb if you are not fit. Let me temper that by saying that my wife and I are well into being "seniors."
