On our trip to watch the Cubs best the Phillies, we had a Sunday to take in sight in Philly. From across the river we could see the boat and decided to take a look. Plug in the address in yours gps. Outs was spot on. The lady at the counter was great. Tickets for 3 adults and 2 teens would have been over $90 but she was so very helpful and offered us the membership which was a less expensive package. Anyway, the type is stuff guided. There really is no time limit and you loosely follow a red line in the floor. The boat is pretty cool and you get to really see how these brave soldiers had to live in such close quarters. You get to see the mess hall, the admirals quarters, the barber shop,etc... Don't leave without crawling inside the turrett! Not too expensive.

The ship is an amazing piece of military hardware and history, and I'm happy to report that a couple of first-grader grandchildren loved the self-guided tour. First of all, there's excitement (for a kid) around every corner. The "redline" takes you throughout the ship, up and down, front and back. Along there way there are machine guns to fire (great sound effects), bunks to lie in, ladders (many ladders) to climb, a public mess hall (good pretzels!), and (finally) at the end, restrooms. We toured on a free public library pass, but would have paid for the experience. It was that good. As a grown-up, I left the tour in awe of the capabilities of the US Navy to mount war fighting machinery. Word of warning: directions TO the ship from northern NJ are perfect. What you need are directions for getting back where you came from. Spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how US 30 connects to NJ 70. Camden is not a pretty city when you're lost.

More than a museum. What a great experience to walk through this incredible war ship, learn its history and get a glimpse of the life of a war sailor. We even got to spend time talking with an old crew member, which was amazing!! Our teen girls even loved this experience!

We surprised our T’ween WWII history buff with a visit. (Parents scored some major points!) On day #1 we spent 4+ hours touring the ship. Day #2 (we purchased a membership assuming he would want to go back!) we were there for another 2 hours but this time with the audio tour which gives you another level of understanding and appreciation for the history of the ship. Additionally we had great conversations with the volunteers that enhanced the entire experience. I would highly recommend a visit... but definitely allot enough time to throughly see all the exhibit and the entire ship
