More than a museum. What a great experience to walk through this incredible war ship, learn its history and get a glimpse of the life of a war sailor. We even got to spend time talking with an old crew member, which was amazing!! Our teen girls even loved this experience!

We surprised our T’ween WWII history buff with a visit. (Parents scored some major points!) On day #1 we spent 4+ hours touring the ship. Day #2 (we purchased a membership assuming he would want to go back!) we were there for another 2 hours but this time with the audio tour which gives you another level of understanding and appreciation for the history of the ship. Additionally we had great conversations with the volunteers that enhanced the entire experience. I would highly recommend a visit... but definitely allot enough time to throughly see all the exhibit and the entire ship

Thanks for your comments and visit! And we truly appreciate you becoming a Member!

Members get free admission to the fireworks over the Delaware River on Saturday night, Sept. 1. The ship will open her decks at 7pm and the fireworks should begin around 9:30pm. We'll have face painting for kids, music, food concessions and bar service for adults.

We hope to see you back aboard the Battleship!

The recommended time to allow for the self-guded Firepower Tour is 1.5 hours. I assure you that that time frame is if you don't do the audio tour, don't stop for lunch, and don't ask any questions. My wife and I took the audio tour and we were on the ship for 3 hours. The tour used to be guided, but the docents that lead the tours are sadly on in years. I thought this would detract from the tour, but it has actually become better, for two reasons. First, there are knowledgeable staff stationed in key areas around the ship, including the Combat Engagement Center and Admiral's Quarters. Second, the addition of the audio stations has allowed the information conveyed by the docents to be conveyed automatically. The information is enhanced and supplemented by the human guides. Most areas of the ship are accessible, including the Brig, Navigation Bridge, Admiral's Bridge, Laundry, Galley, and Barber Shop to name a few. Visitors are able to try a bunk and test out Cell One of the brig.

If you intend to tour the ship, please exercise common sense. Keep in mind that the USS New Jersey is a combat vessel of the United States Navy and as such was designed to be negotiated by physically fit young men in their late teens and early twenties. Therefore, her stairways are steep and narrow and the bulkheads are low. Dresses, overly long or loose-fitting pants, open-toed shoes and flip-flops should not be worn. Also be wary of dangling purse or bag straps. Additionally, as I mentioned, tall people in particular need to be aware of low bulkheads, but short people are not immune. My wife can personally testify that smacking one's head off the bulkhead at the entrance to Turret 3 will hurt for an hour or so.

Finally, the ship is next door to Adventure Aquarium. Combo tickets, called Fish and Ship, are available at either attraction. Separately, these tickets would be $104.00. We paid $73.00.

Well worth every minute. I toured the Missouri but did not get to go down into the main gun battery's. The tour is well worth your time and money and I highly suggest adding the turret II tour. It adds so much more than just seeing the upper decks. I know it says most spend about 1.5 hour but I got there at 9:30 and did not leave until 3pm so if you like to look and read at all plan on spending a few hours. Everyone was very nice and informative. My only complaint was getting in and out of the area. I would not want to be there after dark and maybe a few more signs to help guide people in as the GPS wants to take you down what looks like every alleyway.
