You all are probably tired of hearing from me about Rose. We are very fortunate in the Caldwell area to have such fine restaurants in town. Rose has improved their decor, the wait staff is so friendly and efficient it just makes the dining experience that much better. The feeling is that you are in another place at another time.
Chef Joe provides the dining experience with dishes that are impeccable to the taste. This is a true gem and a must visit.

Went with L and another couple on Saturday evening. We had read the NYTimes review and wanted to try this relatively new BYOB restaurant (Nov. 2010) in a neighboring town. It has a good selection of Mediterranean food, including Italian. While we wanted to sit in the outdoor patio it was full and seems to be first come first served as we tried earlier to reserve outside. I had the bouillabaisse and L had a scallops dish with couscous. I liked the fresh tomato based bouillabaisse a lot; plenty of fish, shellfish and squid. L's comment about the scallops is that they were just like everywhere else. For an appetizer I had the grilled octopus, which I also liked very much. Their freshly baked focaccia with two olive oil dips - a spice oil and a straight oil was excellent!!

Our waiter and another staff were very attentive but not overly so. The waiter had quite a sense of humor that was apparent but not over done. Overall I think the service was great and the food was varied and well prepared. As it is a BYOB the prices were still reasonable. Will likely return.

We happended in for dinner this past weekend. You know sometimes when food comes out of a kitchen and you know it's special, that's what happened to us at Rose. The food (especially the spicy shrimp and their version of boulliabase), are outstanding! The chef came around to each table for reactions and needless to say they were nothing short of fantastic. If you're anywhere in the area and need a go to place for excellent Italian/Fusion food, this is a place for you!!

We went for a family lunch and I was very pleased with the food, service and overall value. Lunches were in the $10 range but not your average fare in terms of quality: food was delicious. Considering other options in downtown Caldwell this was by far the best choice. They brought two dipping oils (homemade) for the house focacia bread that were yummy, and then everyone enjoyed their lunches. Will go back for dinner soon for sure.

My spouse and I were tired of the same monotonous food, so we decided to try Roses’, and we have been thankful ever since.

Although Chef Joe was classically trained in seafood, his filet is succulent. The Lobster and Mushroom Risottos are distinct and delectable. The more eclectic flavors of the Tagine, Paella, and Moroccan Style Shrimp are memorable and mouthwatering.
The Duck with Figs and Tilapia with Honey and Dates are inspired dishes. Although Seared Tuna can be tedious, Chef Joe’s Tuna is perfectly seared with a savory and slightly spicy romesco sauce and comes with airy and flavorful saffron rice (you can actually see the threads)
Although the food is flavorsome, the dessert is divine. From the tantalizing Tartufo and Tiramisu to the ambrosial Blueberry Cobbler, to the more unique Moroccan inspired desserts Katy is a phenomenal pâttissier.

The decor is subtle yet elegant and the servers are very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food.
