“Attractive enough, but too much is broken or working poorly”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

Spent 3 nights with my son on a golf trip. The property has been rennovated so it looks appealing, but maintenance is really lacking. The A/C in our room was broken, and light bulbs were missing from the lamp. Told them the next morning and they fixed both while we were out - so points for that. However...
- ice machine on our floor was broken with a sign directing you down one flight to the 3rd floor
- ice machine on the 3rd floor was also broken (no sign), so onward to the second floor
- "jacuzzi" spa had no bubbles - pump is broken
- the internet was painfully slow (and we had 2 different PC's, so know it wasn't the laptops we brought)
- Both room keys did not work on the secnd day. Nothing I like more than walking back down to the front desk to get my key reactivated.

Also, a pet peeve of mine, is when housekeeping never checks under the bed. Was discouraged to find a can of chew and a plastic spit bottle that had obviously been there for a while

Just your average Holiday Inn. Clean, Comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Nothing spectacular. Can usually get for 5000 reward points.
Very close to the International Trade Zone and I-80.

I would like to give this hotel 3.5 bullets but I guess I am forced to use 3 or 4. It's "above average" but not "very good". I gave it 4 because of the very small number of Priority Club points I had to redeem.

My children participated in the Poconos soccer tournament on consecutive weekends so we stayed at this Holiday Inn because I had Priority Club points to burn. Typically, it takes 25,000 points (or 15,000 points if you're lucky) per night but for some bizarre reason, it only took 5,000 points per night so I booked both weekends right away. Because I can buy 10,000 points from Priority Club for $60, it effectively cost me $120 for four nights when the soccer tournament hotels were over $150 per night. It was an 80% savings.

The first weekend we had a room by the elevator. I should have immediately asked for another room. I was awoken around 1am by a bunch of drunks. I called the front desk to complain and the clerk said, "They're drunk. They'll go upstairs soon." Well of course they're drunk! I would have preferred for the clerk to warn them to be quiet when he saw them enter the hotel.

The second weekend I insisted on a room away from the elevator and we got a room on the 4th floor. It was quiet and we got restful sleep both nights.

The hotel is one of the remodeled Holiday Inns and for the most part I give it a B+ rating. The indoor pool was extremely humid and warm and the drywall and plaster were in bad shape in a couple places. The fitness room next door was handy for allowing me to work out while watching the children. The equipment was in rather mediocre shape though. Our rooms on both weekends were in very good shape except the ceiling of the bathroom in the second room was unpainted plaster.

As a general rule, the service was better than average other than the front desk clerk in the middle of the night. The little bag of "goodies" I got for being a Priority Club member was pretty sad but that's not a big deal. I was a little surprised that it took the better part of a day for them to clear off cocktail glasses from the tables in the center courtyard. Housekeeping could have picked them up in 5 minutes.

One thing I found very curious was when I approached the front door of the hotel I got a distinctive smell of body odor. I am not sure why and it went away as soon as I entered the hotel but it was weird.

Also, there were two different guests that had dogs with them. One of the dogs started barking relatively early one morning but we were already awake because of the tournament. Other guests were probably not so lucky.

All in all, we will stay here next summer if the kids do that tournament again unless the points required spike to 25,000. If so, we will take a look at the Marriott Residence Inn right next door. I have their points too.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator and ask for a high floor.

The place is nice; it's a fine property. But we had one screw-up after another. They were going to give us a different room but first the room was still occupied and they couldn't give it to us. The next day the room was not yet cleaned. Then they gave us a room with a conference table. Finally, after three days we got the right room. Either their system doesn't tell the status of a room and its amenities, or the staff doesn't know how to read information provided. They're very nice and try to be helpful, they're just not all the competent.

This 'newly renovated' hotel was far from it. Was sharing the weekend with friends for a wedding. Overall there was 18-20 family and friends rooms. To start with the elevators didnt work properly, people were getting stranded, no ice machines working on the 4th or 5th floor, the air conditioner in the brides room made so much noise, no one could sleep or talk. It took 3 different people, including the bride, 3 trips down 5 flights of stairs (remember, elevators not working properly) before someone finally came up and removed the air conditioner to repair it. Previously we were told they couldnt fix it that nite and there was no more rooms. Finally it was fixed and all was well for the rest of the nite. The management that night tried to make 'light' of the whole issue, but we werent amused. The bride's mother also was locked out of her room 2 of the 3 days when they 'checked' her out, even though she was registered for 3 days. The curtains in the room were absolutely filthy and didnt close totally. Some of the front desk staff did not seem to understand or speak English, rude and they were not properly trained. This was supposed to be all about the Bride and her accommodations were less than perfect on her special day. Another guest had dirty cups and silverware along with a broken coffee maker, another had a broken light and broken remote. There is so many more things that may seem minor, but when you combine them all, it made for one horrible experience.
Also the so-called spa, was so darn hot and did not provide any bubbles.

Room Tip: Stay someplace else, there are many more choices in the area. If you must stay there, make sure you...

We are apologetic that the guest experienced issues with the stay. Our elevators had a problem that was fixed and it is unfortunate that this mechanical unit unexpectedly was not working. As with mechanical units they are serviced but can go down and we helped guests up and down the floors. When their is heavy use ice machines take time to recirculate and were in the process. Our engineer brought in another ac unit to cool all the guests in this room.
Drapes are cleaned and replaced regularly. We did not find ANY dirty dishes or items in the hotel rooms. Housekeeping is a very strong point in this hotel.
we are sorry you experienced issues that would normally not happen and have fixed and addressed them all.

Bad items: small rooms, no refrigerator, peeling bathroom paint, thin walls, shower head old fashioned, bathroom outlets shorted out, filthy elevator rugs, restaurant so-so with limited menu, hot tub too hot.
Good items: comfortable beds, 4 comfortable pillows, good bath towels, full lobby bar, plenty of parking, friendly front desk.

We reviewed the room issue and found the shower head to be one of the new Moen brand shower heads, the outlets do work fine and the room is a standard room. All the bedding is new in the rooms with triple sheeting on the beds Our guest scores are very high due to focused guest services. we are replacing the carpeting in the elevators.
Overall our hotel is clean and without problems.

My niece was married on September 25, 2010 and had her guests stay at this hotel. The customer service we received from all the staff was excellent. There were five weddings taking place in the area that weekend with guests of all of the weddings staying here. As you can imagine, it was a job organizing all the reservations and keeping everyone happy. If there were any problems, the staff (especially Susana) was quick to fix the situation. The Holiday Inn had recently taken over the property and was in the midst of some renovations. The rooms were clean and had new mattresses, although the rooms could use a little updating, it was certainly very nice for the price. The breakfast the next morning was terrific. I would definately recommend this hotel.
