Through a RCI swap we landed at La Sammana for 7 nights. We had a very nice 2 bedroom unit that had the living, dining area, and miniature kitchen in the center room that you enter into from the central indoor hall. Then you have two lockable doors on each side of that center room leading to the 2 bedrooms. The decor is modern nuvo with granite counter tops, round elevated pan type sinks, plasma TV in liv. rm, TV's in each bed room, Sauna and jacuzzi tub in master bedroom, and a leather hide a bed couch and chair in the center living rm.. (With a blanket thrown over the leather couch it is not to uncomfortable to sit on).

So whats not to like?

1. Only Small 4'5" X 3'.5" windows in each room with no screens make it dark. No flow through ventilation ( HOT indoor hall on one side, and no screens on the other), = 3 individual below window type A/C units HAVE to stay on 24/7 even if it is nice outside. Constant A/C makes the air, and you, VERY DRY. (You must drink lots of fluids)! The Center room smelt like fish the whole stay even after they serviced the A/C unit. (I think the previous tenants liked fish!) We got use to it.
2. The building faces Brigantine Blvd. on one side and 1.5 blocks away to the ocean on the other, (with many 3 story buildings in between you and any ocean view). So 1/2 the rooms have a busy street just outside. The city police & Fire station building is directly across the street, so every time they take a call, you hear it. (Even if your on the top 5th floor). You hear the sirens, along with cars & trucks going by most all the time. (Traffic sounds are mostly overcome by the 24/7 A/C being on, {on the 5th floor}, so it is not too bad, it could be worse).
3. The kitchenette with its 2 burner glass top stove and no oven is very hard to cook on. Add to that no teflon frying pan and even making fried eggs is a stuck on broken egg yoke mess.
4. The "new" bed pillows are ALL so blown up and balloon puffy! They should provide some flatter choices, or a feather pillow option. Both my wife and I could not rest our heads on their pillows without MAJOR stiff necks in the morning. The beds are fine and very comfortable . (This problem could easily be fixed, hint hint).
5. Modern nuvo decor looks more like a bachelor pad with dark earth tones, and wrap around vinyl leather padded 6" wide "step / seat kind of" perimeter to the mattress bed frame with near floor to ceiling padded head board. It all works, but it's not our style. We prefer a more comfortable home, or more "beach-ie and light" styling, rather than dark nuvo bachelor pad with track and recessed spot lighting. (Good luck shaving or seeing your face very well in the bathrooms). The small windows are placed high over the A/C units, so sitting on the couch in the living room gives you no view of the earth, just sky. (From 5th floor). This adds more to the dim, closed in feeling.
6. The "pool" is more like a swim jacuzzi size. Its located on the roof. Maybe its16' x 12' in size, being generous. Forget about swimming laps, or having more than say 6 people in it at one time. It does have working jets on around the inside like a jacuzzi, but it is pool temperature. The view from the roof is great. They have stereo speakers playing music all the time. Its ok if you like the music. I found it to be a nice mix, but my wife did not want any of it.

The GOOD:

Staff is very helpful. It's much better than being in Atlantic City. Small exerciize room. The beaches are wonderfully clean / flat / and very long. Free under building parking is a plus. It sure beats a hotel room! We Probably would not stay here again, unless there were no other choices.

This resort is beautiful and the service is outstanding from the moment you are greeted at the front door. The rooms are modern, clean, very well appointed, and immediately comfortable. Our two bedroom suite had a sauna and hot tub, kitchenette, three flat screen TVs, and extremely comfy beds. Ernest at the door and Mona at the front desk make you feel like pampered family, and they are extremely knowledgeable about the area. There is a shuttle to the Borgata and Bali's six nights a week, and the resort is one short block from the beach. I highly recommend this resort and look forward to returning one day!

Nice and roomy 2-room suite with 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, balcony. Housekeeping only comes every 3 days! Also, be ready for the hefty security deposit required at check-in. Staff was fine, nothing outstanding. We would not stay here again; would most likely go down to Cape May and stay.

I can not speak highly enough about the staff here. Very friendly, and helpful. Mona, Christie, and Ernest were our favorites.
Very clean, and comfortable. Walking distance to beach and restaurants. Free shuttle to Atlantic City, about a 10 minute ride.
Can't wait to go back !

I stayed at La Sammana with my husband, sister-in-law and her boyfriend back in August 2009. I have to say it was very nice and the price was good. We all had seperate rooms of course and my sis-in-law and her friend were pleased with their suite as well. The staff was friendly, pleasant and helpful. The suites were very nice and clean. The roof top pool was a bit small but it was nice. I will say that La Sammana is pretty far from all the action and there was not many places to eat in that particular area. The clerk at the front desk pointed us to a nice little resturant over looking the beach, the food was decent and the view of the beach was beautiful. In my opinion everyone's experience is different and I would recommend trying it out for yourself and parking was free. I would stay again.
