“it really is paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

la samamana is all that it claims... a beautiful mediterrean style hotel , located on the most beautiful beach in saint martin. everything made for a perfect week, the food was delicious, the breakfast buffet was so tasty and interesting... the pastry chef gifted ... for a large hotel , the propery was so spacious and comfortably planned that one had a feeling of privacy and even intimacy. our room, an ocean front one bedroom suite was beautiful, with immediate access to the beach... also important for me was that every spot on the property was easily accessible by wheelchair when necessary. we will certain return, it would be impossible not to.

Room Tip: beachfont and ocean view rooms are lovely ... ask to see map of property... each room is located on...

not sure if the staff changed, but extremely disappointed this time around. I would pay a little more and stay in AC! I asked the reservationist if I should spend $10 more for the 1br suite as opposed to the studio and she said, no, the studio is very nice. Well, she failed to mention that all of the studios were located on the street side. The entire 6 hours that I was there for SLEEP, I was woken up by buses, cars, etc....The heater wouldn't stay on, so I was freezing on top of it...when the heat did kick on, it made the drapes move, causing more noise. It was a disaster. the room looked depressed too. When I mentioned my concerns in the am, the office manager just said, "well, you should have come down In the middle of the night to change rooms" I told her that I was too tired to do that, and I was a returning guest. she just shrugged her shoulders and I walked out with extreme disgust. I probably won't ever go back.

Room Tip: pay a few extra dollars more and stay in AC!

The lobby looked beautiful, but when we went up to our room it was quite a surprise. It was dark and depressing. The bathroom is modern, but the rest needs help. There is no indoor pool. The gym is so small it is hard to believe. The staff is great, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired.

This resort is perfect for quiet time with a loved one. The area is so calming and the resort is very quiet. Almost too quiet, at first!! Took a bit of getting use to, all the clam, but we settled in and just love it!

The area is clean, safe, and a short walk to the beach, which adds to the serenity.

You can walk to CVS, and Wawa. There are some restaurants nearby, but for a short drive down the boulevard yiou can find a better assortment; and an Acme, Rite Aid, etc. There is a bus that stops in front that will take you to AC if you wants a bit more movement. Also the resort provides a limited shuttle in the evenings on certain days.

The Resort is clean, staff are wonderful!! It was a great stay! Very refreshing!!

Room Tip: The pool was not open, which is expected, and there is no restaurant on site but Andre's is next...

Each Columbus Weekend, my husband and I stay here. The staff always remember us and we appreciate their warm greetings. We like their little fitness center. The rooms are furnished stylishly, but this year seemed a bit warn. We visit with our family who stay nearby. It is very convenient to restaurants, running, playgrounds, and of course Atlantic City. We will be back next year.

Room Tip: Some rooms are at parking level and the headlights shine right in the room. Some rooms face the fire...

The resort was not too far from the casinos. A shuttle was also provided that would drop you off at the casinos from 4pm - 1130pm.
The room was larger than expected. We had 4 adults fit comfortably. We did not engage in any activities as the resort was our home base for traveling to New York. We used the casino greyhounds to get to NY ($35 roundtrip). It was a two hour ride but a better option than sitting in traffic.
The staff was friendly and helpful. If visiting AC this resort is perfect. For traveling to NY, it may be slightly easier to find a closer resort.

Room Tip: We didn't have Ocean view but we heard it is available

Some background before beginning the review.....We are 3 friends ( mid fifties) who travel yearly. Our plan was to spend 3 nights on Brigantine and then 3 nights in washington D.C. With the shutdown in the capital, we cancelled our nights there and decided to stay at the beach. So, off to the library to do some research. ( Excellent local library with very helpful staff !) La Sammana is within walking distance of the library, so we stopped there to enquire. I was bluntly handed a paper and told to make a reservation via phone. This paper also posted there " walk-in rates". Upon phoning, we learned that one of the weekend nights we wanted were booked, so NO availablity. Meanwhile, we got onto booking.com and they were advertising the weekend at $ 577.00 plus 12 % tax per room. BONUS ! we booked and received a confirmation. We arrived a few days later looking forward to continuing our great week at the beach ! The suite was very clean, modern ( although those silly raised bathroom sinks are a cleaning nightmare....splash everywhere!). We knew it was a one bedroom with a king bed, a pull out sofa in the livingroom and a cute kitchenette with a 2 burner stove. Just having come from a 2 bedroom condo down the street, lets say that we made due with the sleeping accommodations, but we all felt this suite was geared for a couple or a couple with small children. The sleep sofa was quite uncomfortable. There is a laundry on the 3rd floor that we used for $ 1.50 wash and $ 1.50 dry. It was clean and bright. The hallways was mercilessly hot with no air flow at all, but the a/c worked well in our unit. We had a balcony that looked out onto the upper parking deck. we could glimpse the ocean. There was a coffee station set up in the entrance to the gym. The gym was small but the machines were in good working order. The entire place was extremely quiet for a weekend. We heard nothing outside our door ever !! The small heated rooftop pool was heaven !! There was nobody there !! The views were also stunning from the rooftop !! Within walking distance is : a beautiful beach, a seafood restaurant, a liquor store and a small grocery store. There is also a free shuttle service to either Borgata's or Ballys that runs between 4 pm and 11 pm. we used this on our last night and it was very nice to leave the car parked. Our only interaction with the staff occured on the morning we were checking out at 5:45 am. The 3 of us are standing there and presented with a bill for over $ 700.00......for 4 people ! I don't know who is owning up to not telling us that even if the room accomodates 4 people, you are charged for each person over 2 ( that includes children too). I was given a phone # for their " customer care" and to this day, I have never had a response to my call. Once back home, I contacted booking.com and the matter was straightened out with La Sammana manager. Brigantine is awesome, especially in the off season, we will be back but would recommend La Sammana for couples or families only. THANK-YOU ! travelled between Oct 1-7 2013.

Room Tip: Rooms either face the street and firestation or the upper parking deck.....but the window do open !!
