“Need to work on service”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

The first floor of this restaurant is dominated by a beautiful, large square bar with several flat screens TV's. There are high tops around 2 sides of the bar and regular tables on a third side. There are a few walls of bottles of wine which surround the regular tables and are for sale. Although it is a neat concept, it can be awkward if you are dining and a stranger is looking around your table for a bottle of wine to purchase. However, we have not seen this happen frequently as most of the liquor sales appear to be for beer. The menu is seafood heavy with several Italian dishes. The food is very good. The desserts are excellent. Our issue with this place is the service, which can be hit or miss but unfortunately is more often than not a miss. We waited 5 minutes for the hostess to ring up packaged goods even though we were in line to be seated well before the customer arrived to pay for his beer. Another time, the hostess ignored us while she chatted on the phone. The bartender was not familar with how to make a drink on the bar menu and had no idea what desserts they offer. They don't always bring bread when you order dinner. I find we are always trying to flag down a waitress for simple things like water refills. The servers tend to congregate by the bar where they pick up drinks and chat for a while even when tables need attention. During our last visit, the bartender yelled over us to a server on her way to the kitchen. We have seen the owners there on several occasions and they seem oblivious to the bad service (and may be setting the example for their employees). They tend to chat with their friends who may be at the restaurant but are not friendly to other customers. They have never asked how we were enjoying our meal nor have they thanked us for coming or wished us a return visit. We have been there at least 5 times since the new owners purchased the restaurant. To grossly simplify, there are three elements to a good restaurant: atmosphere/decor, food and service. This place has a nice atmosphere/decor and good food but the service simply does not match the rest of the place.

“Great place for lunch”
Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

This place has an excellent feel on the inside. Drinks are a little over priced but I guess thats the area. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and it was great.

“Now there's a reason to eat in Brigantine!”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

There are not many reasons to make the trip from Atlantic City to Brigantine, but The Cellar 32 is one of them. They had a nice selection of appetizers such as mussels and stuffed hot peppers. We tried both of these and they were delicious. Their entrees included chicken, seafood, pastas, pork and steaks. All were reasonably priced and the portions were large. They also have pizza and burgers. The service was friendly and efficient. They have specialty drinks in mason jars and sangria ($10 pitcher). Great stop before a show or casinos!

“Very unique and upscale in Brigantine”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

The Cellar 32 has great decor, menu and service. A definite notch above most of the other restaurants in Brigantine. One of two liquor stores with a bar/restaurant in the middle. Good food!

“Why is the service getting so slow?”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

As frequent visitors to Brigantine, we were very happy to see the positive changes new ownership brought to this central spot last year. The food is generally pretty good, from sandwiches to entrees, with a broad selection of creative cocktails, wine, and beer. While not cheap, it’s a good family spot on an island with few options. Upstairs is especially nice for dinner as it is much quieter than the downstairs bar, which is also blighted by terrible package goods coolers. As the summer has gone on, however, they seem to struggle more and more to get all patrons’ food on the table hot and in less than two hours time. The wait staff is not helped by a rude owner who just circles the bar and stares down at patrons rather than welcoming them or lending a hand.
