“Great Stay! Great Staff!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

What a great experience at this location! My family and I travel often during the summer and this hotel is by far, one of the best in Bordentown! Rooms are always clean and comfortable. Where did you get those beds? Variety of items for what they call a "Continental Breakfast" is just amazing.....waffles, eggs, bagels, muffins, yogurt and the list goes on. The staff members go above and beyond whether it's giving directions, suggestions for things to do or just getting us checked in. They actually call to make sure we are happy with our room! Will definately be back next summer.

We walked into the hotel room and the first thing that hits you is a musty moldy smell. The a/c unit barley works. The light fixtures had cob webs on them. There was a cricket in our room. Bed bug feces in our mattress. and the housekeeping woke my entire family up on a saturday morning at 8am to clean our room. Why so early, since it seems they really are not cleaning much in the room anyway. Once we told the manager, she was very nice but I felt there should of been more done for us since our stay was ruined and are morning was as well. We were itching but did not get bitten by any of the bugs all day, very tired which did not make for a great time at the park. We had planned on getting there when the park opened but we had to handle the bed bug problem first. I will have to throw away my luggage because I am not bringing the suitcase inside because of the potential for bed bugs. Just a shame all around. WILL NEVER GO TO THIS BEST WESTERN AGAIN!! BEWARE!!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. First and foremost it should be noted that this isolated incident has been taken very seriously by the staff and management of the Best Western Bordentown Inn, and the necessary steps to correct the situation have been taken. Our guests, neither past nor future, should be alarmed as there is no bed bug problem at our hotel.

On behalf of the entire staff, we would like to apologize for the unpleasant and uncomfortable experience you encountered. The rooms that you and the other family you were with, who left the previous TripAdvisor review, were reimbursed for both nights stay, provided with reservations at another hotel, as well as offered restaurant gift cards, laundry services, and free Six Flags tickets. Unfortunately we cannot take back the experience you encountered, however we did our best to satisfy you in any way possible. Again we would like to apologize for this experience that occurred and once again assure you and other guests that our hotel does not have a bed bug problem. We take every step possible including staff training programs and professional preventative maintenance to ensure our guest's comfort and satisfaction. Employees and management at the Best Western Bordentown Inn are committed to guest satisfaction and exemplary customer service.

Sincerely,
Stefanie Strom

I wish I could give 2-1/2 stars. This place isn't bad enough to be 2 but not good enough to be 3. AAA rates it 2 stars. First off, there is no mention anywhere that this property has no elevator. So if you're on the third floor, as we were, you have to schlep your stuff up 2 flights of stairs. Being late and not wanting that hassle, we just rummaged through our suitcases to get what we needed for the night.

This is NOT a hotel. It's a motel. All rooms have front doors that lead directly outside. Smallish rooms with air conditioner that blows directly onto whomever sleeps in the bed next to the window/door. The lobby is in a separate building from the rooms.

Only one person on staff for the ENTIRE property. Poor girl did her best to handle everything. She was checking us in while answering phones and had to leave the lobby building to deliver towels and other things to the rooms, leaving the lobby unattended. Shame on management for putting this on one employee. She had our room keys ready and checked us in quickly. Kudos to her for grace under pressure.

Driving around to the back, we walked up the two flights to our room. Very modest, not huge, but not the smallest room I've seen. Nice touches were a microwave and mini fridge. There was a small bathroom, with separate sink area just in front. Beds were comfortable enough and TV was fine. The a/c unit kept blowing the window curtains back, and since all rooms have direct outdoor access, wasn't the best in terms of privacy. As we walked to our room we could easily see inside other rooms. Yikes! Room was clean and there was surprisingly little noise from outside or other rooms.

Breakfast was called cold continental. Basically Yoplait, breads, cereals, coffee and juice. I'm sure that's fine for most, but we chose to go to a cute diner a half mile away for some eggs and pancakes. Didn't use or see the pool or exercise room so can't comment on that. It wasn't especially cheap, even booking though Hotwire but all we needed was a place to crash for the night and it did the job. It wasn't the Bates Motel but wasn't even close to a Hampton Inn, which is in the same Hotwire category. Bottom line not my cup of tea.

Room Tip: Unless you want to drag your bags up the stairs, get a room on first or second floor

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I am disappointed to hear that your experience with us was not the superior experience that we strive to provide to all of our guests. We appreciate all guest feedback, the good and the bad, as it helps us to constantly improve. As you mentioned, we are a motel style property with two separate buildings that do not have elevators. We realize that stairs may be an issue for some, which is why we can certainly honor requests that ask for first floor rooms. We thank you for your input and certainly will look into these other concerns to see how we can address them.If you are ever in the Bordentown area again, I certainly hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with a pleasant and comfortable stay. Thank you again for your review.

I don't know about the other reviews of this property but here is mine. We arrived late and found a bed bug on our pillow. We were moved to another room which was filthy, damp and the toilet didn't flush. The other family with us found evidence in the morning on their mattresses of bed bugs as well. They did immediately start tearing apart the rooms when we informed them of their problem. Stephanie the Assistant manager did the best she could for us in the awful circustance. Manager never contacted us at all. I would not recommend this Best Western to anyone I know.

I had stayed here before with family, about 4 years ago. It was very nice, no complaints and suited our needs. This last visit was a very pleasant surprise - the property had been upgraded and the room / beds / facilities was of very high quality and comfort. The breakfast provided was better than any other I've had at similar-type hotels. Service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location for Six Flags too. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but the back of the building has a pretty view into nature. If you want to be n...

The staff overall was annoyed at the slightest comment from guests. The room while seemingly nice, had a broken door..meaning it would not close or lock shut. The staff never sent anyone out after I called for help. Slamming it shut a few times finally did the job. The pool area, while small, was neat and clean and did the job. The breakfast is great, but organized oddly. Basically, the amenities are great, the staff and slight issues with rooms are not.

The staff at this hotel was awesome. Checking in and out was very easy. The room was large and very clean and updated. It had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathrrom was clean and there was a seperate area with an additional sink. The free breakfast was very good and had a lot of variety. The pool looked great. Would definitely stay here again.
