“Pleasantly suprised”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

The Bloomfield steak and seafood house is not your typical steakhouse. I expected the usual menu you encounter at steakhouses and was pleased at the variety of items on the menu. We were seated next to the fireplace at a cozy table for 2. The waitress was very knowledgeable in recommending an entrée when I couldn't make a choice (so many delicious items on the menu to choose from). My husband had the ribeye steak, cooked to perfection and sliced like butter and I chose the crabmeat stuffed shrimp. Both were delicious. The bread was fresh baked and also very good. We decided not to have dessert, that is until we were told they are all homemade by the owner. Our waitress recommended the coconut cake, which was incredibly moist and wonderful. We had a restaurant.com gift certificate, which was no problem, even on a Friday night. It was a lovely, cozy romantic dinner for 2 in a quaint historic home.

“A great meal and a trip back in time”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

You could never expect a 200-year-old house to be sitting in the middle of Bloomfield, much less one that contains a great restaurant.

Our meal from start to finish was superb. Characteristically, steak/seafood restaurants aren't too good with other types of food. Not so here. We had a delicate, wonderful appetizer: pumpkin ravioli in a cream cider/Gorgonzola sauce, a dish that would stand up well to anything offered in an upscale Continental cuisine restaurant. Deftly prepared and outstanding.

Our main courses: Sole Francaise and Prime Rib arrived piping hot and prepared exactly as requested --- a tribute to both the kitchen and the server who prepared and placed the entrees quickly and efficiently. The side dishes were great.

Portions are large, so everyone ends up taking leftovers home.

Service was warm and friendly without being cloyingly intrusive.

It was cold evening and we requested warm seats, so they put us in the room with a fireplace that was going.

The building is amazing and lovingly kept. I could be crazy, but it sounded as if the music they played was sea chanteys, an homage to its original owners.

“Good food.”

The Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House family own restaurant is good place for lunch or dinner. It is a little expensive but worth. The service is good and friendly. The portions are large and tasty. Will definitely go back, I would recommend this place.
