Although we have splurged on dinner in the restaurant, what we enjoy most is ending our week with a stop at the bar at the Bernards Inn where the service is friendly, the pours are satisfying, the food--should one choose to settle in--is tasty, but most enjoyable of all is the people- watching! Great fun! It's not an inexpensive evening, surely, but the bar is well-stocked and professionally served. The menu features favorites as well as dishes that showcase seasonal, local ingredients. On busy nights the service at the tables on the periphery of the bar can get a bit spotty, but the manager is always looking in and generally keeps things moving. We wish they hadn't added the oversized television, but that's just because the room was prettier without it. The volume is kept down if not off, and I expect some patrons like keeping an eye on the scores of the games that are generally playing on it. Overall, the combination of the pleasant surroundings, the professional service, and the appetizing menu options makes for a very enjoyable evening.

Five of us went to the Bernards Inn Sat. night for a "21st" birthday celebration for our son. We started out with cocktails at the bar. It is a beautiful, big bar with a very attentive and friendly staff. As we sat there we wondered why we don't come more often and decided a weekend late lunch/early dinner, sitting outside on the porch would be great! We were then seated in the Conservatory and promptly attended to by our waitress, Sheri, who took drink orders and gave us our menus. Nick, her helper, came with bread while we tried to decide on dinner. It took a while for everyone to decide as the menu choices all sounded so wonderful. Sheri came over and helped us decide by giving us honest assessments of our choices, she was very helpful! Everyone was extremely pleased with their dinners, and desserts. There was an amuse-bouche, to start, of a watermelon soup that my family loved and wanted me to make. I asked Nick if I could get the recipe, not really expecting to. Well, later in the meal he brought me a hand written recipe for the soup! Wow! Although we don't go to this restaurant but once or twice a year for special occcasions we find that it is always an exceptional experience.

The staff was gracious and professional. Definitely, fine dining at its best. The lamb tasting is a must. Library/bar was warm and inviting. Great venue for a wedding or private party. You won't be disappointed.

This restaurant has a very upscale atmosphere and the staff fits the mold. The wait staff blend top notch professionalism with friendly customer service. The food is excellent and the specials change frequently.

Outstanding cuisine, service and atmosphere. Unless you experience this place, you can't describe what you're missing. It has such an amazing buzz. I look forward to each season as the menus change with them. The "old school" service leaves you wanting for nothing yet the atmosphere is lite and fresh. This is a must experience.
