How nice to go to a restaurant and feel like part of a big group of friends. The staff seem to know the majority of the people there, and it isn't long before those of us not from Wolfeboro felt equally included.

We went on a busy night, and our server on the patio was swamped. Imagine our surprise when the bartender came to our table and performed our wine presentation in a way worthy of a fine dining establishment, but with jokes and pleasant conversation that show why she is a bartender. That redhead is one funny gal.

Our salads (we had The Restaurant Salad and a Caesar) were enormous, although we'd ordered the side size. They were fresh and delicious. My wife had the hangar steak which she declared perfection, and I was brave enough to try a Thai Red Curry dish with salmon in it (the bartender suggested the salmon as a nice twist on the usual chicken, shrimp, or veggie offerings). My plate was cleaned!

We shared a pu pu platter rendition of s'mores, which was fun for old folks like us, although there were so many nice options for dessert.

I note several reviews here mention the noise level, and it is true, it is high. Rather than feel overwhelmed by it, it actually seemed like an energized and raucously fun time for all. Looking for a romantic dinner? This isn't your place. Looking for great food, funny, attentive staff and a fun time? This is definitely the place for you. We look forward to being back in the area soon as we will definitely be back!

"the restaurant" has the best food in Wolfeboro. It's just that simple. They do not own a freezer. All of the meats, produce and fish are brought in fresh almost daily. Yes its popular, so it can be crowded. If you prefer a quiter expierence try to go mid week. Call ahead if you have a bigger party. My favorites: the rangoons, stuffed avocado and AMAZING desserts. "the restaurant" also strives to use local ingredients from Devylder Farm among other local farms, meats from Mill Street Meat Market, desserts from La Boca...the list goes on. "the restaurant" stays open year round which is a great thing for us locals.

the restaurant is our favorite place to go out to eat or to order takeout from. Their clever burger selections are our favorite! although we thoroughly read the menu everytime and try not to drool at all the tasty menu items. The specials menu is always really special! All of their meat comes from the local meat market. so it's never frozen. The servers are always so pleasant and helpful. and we really enjoy the warm and cozy atmosphere! Did I mention this was our favorite restaurant?

Visited only once and had 'Surf and Turf' which was steak tips and scallops served with mashed potato, pumpkin and courgettes. The steak was delicious....tender and flavoursome, and the scallops too were tasty.Dessert for me was Lemon curd, and if like me you enjoy something a little 'tart' and not too sweet then this is the dessert to have, served with a strawberry and whipped cream it was beautiful. Only one visit but was very happy with the food and friendly staff.

The noise level was ear-splitting. We couldn't even talk to each other.
The clam chowder was so cold we had to send it back to be re-heated. They do not serve bread or rolls even with an entree in the $24-$26 range. The shrimp stuffed with crab was good, though the side vegetables were very plain. Flourless chocolate cake was good. Creme brule was soupy rather than custardy. I would not go back.
