East of Suez has been a Wolfeboro institution for a number of years; it is open only for "the season", usually June through Labor Day. As the name implies, cuisine is Asian of all kinds and the menu varies from week to week, relies heavily on local produce, offers American style seating or Asian style, prices range from inexpensive to moderately expensive and it is a "bring your own alcohol" establishment. They offer wine glasses, ice, mixers, everything except the booze itself. Service quality varies from season to season, since they hire local waitstaff, but for the most part is excellent. The decor is eclectic, a real mixed bag but always interesting; seating of both styles is comfortable and if the weather is nice, be sure and reserve a table near one of the back windows. The back side of the building overlooks a wooded area and is very pleasant on a hot, summer night. Please remember that East of Suez is located in a resort community and is busy nearly every night, so reservations are truly necessary. There is a pleasant porch area where you can wait to be seated. So, pick up a bottle of your favorite wine, make a reservation and be surprised by the diversity of the food offered here. We have never been disappointed.
