Nestled in the mountains of NH, this resort has the most beautiful views. Sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs enjoying a cocktail was the epitome of relaxation. My husband and I stayed for the weekend as an anniversary splurge and it was just what we needed. It's a fairly isolated area so not much to do but relax and play golf. If you are looking for lots of action, this isn't the place to be. It's more geared to couples or low key relaxing families. Our room was very nice with a super comfortable bed and huge bath. The room was less hotel and more bed and breakfast style. Although the food was delicious, unfortunately the service on our first evening was absolutely terrible. Apparently they bring students over from Slovenia to work in exchange for room and board but they don't all speak great English. Our waitress was lovely but the communication barrier had us and most of the patrons around us pretty frustrated. Customer service is what wins repeat customers so it's unfortunate that they decided to put a non-English speaker in such a vital customer service role before she was equipped to handle it. On a positive note, the manager we spoke with went out of her way to compensate us for our troubles. We were very happy with how they quickly tried to remedy the situation. Management in general was quite accommodating and did everything possible to ensure we were happy. Overall, our experience was quite positive.

We just got back from staying at the Mountain View Grand for a weekend with my husband and kids, age 4 and 7. We only tried it because of the rave reviews from our friends. We arrived at night and it was nice to get valet service however there was only one ancient elevator that can only work with a clerk in the lobby. When we arrived in the room, we noticed that the floor slanted and buckled. We were afraid that the kids would trip into the bathroom. There was also no block out shade and it was very warm with the A/C on and fan. The blankets was also very thick. Nice for the winter time but not the summer. The food service is extremely slow and besides Santa's Village it's in the middle of nowhere. There are daily activities, but not much for families. This hotel would be great for a couple or adults going on vacation, but not really meant for families. The kids loved the pool and movie room but for the amount we paid for a night, I expected more.

Room Tip: A room on the first floor

We spent a long weekend at the Mountain View Grand and it was just a magical stay. We participated in most of the hotel activities and enjoyed them all - especially the Ax throwing. We ate in all the restaurants and had great meals in all of the them. The Wine Cellar is in a league all its own- we can only suggest that you try it - you won't be disappointed. The hotel was spotless. The grounds are impeccably maintained and perfectly frame the mountain views.
We would also strongly recommend that you hang out in the lobby for some time between 6 and 9 pm, when the local pianist is playing - he is just phenomenal. To take in the sunset over the mountains while enjoying an after dinner drink with great live music is a memory that won't soon fade.

Room Tip: Although all the views are terrific, a room that faces to the south / southeast will give you an inc...

Nothing negative to say about this place! It was a great experience all-around! Very relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff! We utilized the spa for a massage and loved it! Pricing is a little high, but we were able to utilize the "Summer Hot Dates" which made it more affordable! Would highly recommend staying here.

Before I begin, let me say that we were at this resort in what was still considered "off" season. Only one restaurant was open and we got the impression that several employees were new and still being trained. In fact, in the one restaurant, where we ate all three nights and days we were there, we never had the same waitress/waiter twice, which we found odd for so few guests in the place.

Overall, our stay here was extremely positive. Our bedroom was clean and quiet, though small, and had a nice view of the mountains. We spent most of our time reading or talking on the porch or in one of the many common areas throughout the hotel. The library was our favorite room. We watched a movie one night in the small theatre, which was fun. The workout facility was an especially nice surprise for a historic hotel. There were a variety of machines as well as different exercise classes offered each day.

The thing we found a bit lacking obviously had to do with the fact that they were training so many employees. Several times there was miscommunication between the hotel staff and the restaurant staff concerning times and dates of availability. Also, as with a resort, there were advertised "activities" that didn't always come off so well. (Again, this was the off season. My guess is the rooms weren't more than 1/3 full.) For instance, the "tea and cookies" advertised to be in the lobby at 2-4 each day often didn't arrive until after 3--and sometimes not until a guest asked about them! Then when there arrived the setup wasn't complete (no napkins or no cups, etc). Similarly, the hotel advertised a "history tour," one hour in length, which excited my husband and I. But it turned out to be the activities director reading from a script and pointing out pictures on the wall in one room. It took all of 15 minutes. A disappointment, to be sure. They would do better to beef that up and maybe hire a local historian to lead it.

Still, the criticisms are small in the overall scheme of things. Our three days were quiet and restful, which was exactly what we desired.

We were here for a weekend wedding and stayed 2 nights. The view from this resort is breath taking and in general the staff was very kind, and gracious. The rooms are lovely, with comfortable beds and spotlessly clean, but I have to say based on the cost of the room, I don't quite understand the total lack of black out curtains. The white wood blinds are nice, but they don't hide the sun and my bed was 6 inches away from the window. I woke at 5am to sun shining across the entire room and no way to pull a shade or blind. The breakfast buffet was great, fresh fruit, hot entree's, home made pastries. They rent mountain bikes, and have a small farm on site. The grounds are pristine and the entire place is cleaner than clean (they dust the books and pictures that line the hallways every day, once I think I saw them doing it twice in the same day). I don't really know how to say this because the place is great, but it seemed crazy expensive considering there is nothing included except your room. I have paid $100 bucks a night less to stay in equally amazing properties with a lot more to offer. This place is remote and other than the small town of Littleton, there is not a lot up here. I was happy to go for a wedding, but doubt we would go back based on the current pricing.

Room Tip: No matter where you stay, there seems to be carpenter ants. If you want a view of the mountains, ra...

We get away to a remote luxuty location every year to celebrate our anniverary. This year's trip to the Mountain View Grand Resort was exceptional. It is quite remote - a 2 hour drive through heavily-forested New Hampshire from the nearest airport - but serene, peaceful, quiet and completely wonderful in every regard. The staff is exceptionally attentive and pleasant. The room we had was most comfortable and the food was delicious. Definitely a top-10 place to return someday!
