Had been wanting to go here for a while and finally decided to check it out. Booked a Historic King room which was on the third floor. The room was very clean, albeit a bit small (perfect for two though). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. After one night of sleeping on their massive pillows, however, I requested a flatter pillow because I am a stomach sleeper and one was quickly delivered. If you prefer a thinner pillow, keep this in mind before it's time to turn in for the nigh. Everyone we encountered who worked for the hotel was very friendly and helpful. It is a gorgeous hotel with expansive views stretching from Canon to Mount Washington. The first night we were there, we partook in the bingo and s'mores offered by the hotel, which were both a pleasure. We ate dinner in the Tavern both nights, and did breakfast there both mornings. All the meals were great. The consensus among our group was that the food at MVG is better than the Mount Washington Hotel/Resort. The prices on the food were VERY reasonable, which was nice to see considering they could gouge the prices up. They have a beautiful Wine Cellar where you can eat that we were able to checkout on the History tour of the hotel (highly recommend doing this tour if you can). The fitness center has brand new high tech equipment. The movie theater and game room were great as well. You can select a time and a movie and they will play it for you. This is a great place if you are planning to ski at either Canon or Bretton Woods--both are an easy 20 minute drive. Looking forward to coming back!

Room Tip: If traveling with elderly people or people who have a difficult time with stairs, you may want to request a room on the lobby level or first floor (one level up from lobby). The elevator requires a hotel employee to operate, which could be cumbersome.

We knew a big snowstorm was coming, so we drove up late Tuesday night to beat the storm. We'd planned to ski at Bretton Woods the next morning but awoke to the snow already coming down in force. Rather than brave the roads we elected to "bed down" and have a few cozy, quiet family days at this grand resort. What fun we had! We spent the next two days swimming in the beautiful pool, watching movies in the state of the art theater (The Shining was too much fun!), eating s'mores by the fire, and relaxing in their many parlors. Air hockey and ping pong were also a blast, and the dinners at The Tavern restaurant were quite good. I am a winter zealot, and can't think of a better way to spend a few days with my family than playing at such a beautiful hotel in a huge snowstorm. What great memories... To top it all off, a two hour snowmobile tour on a cold post-storm sunny day was just spectacular. Trevor, our guide was so nice too. All in all, we had three great days and I would do it all over in a heartbeat.

We stayed at White Mountain while on a Fall Foliage tour. The hotel has a grand presence, and commands a wonderful romantic view of the valley with a background of majestic mountains. The rooms take you back to an early era, and are a bit small but comfortable. They have a single elevator so we negotiated the narrow stairways to access our room. There was a problem with reservations for our group, and more confusion for dinner as our "reservations" for the group had vanished. We were even told that we could not be seated as they were out of menus. After this faux pas, everything else was fine. The hotel has a gorgeous lobby with a grand piano, and the food at the restaurant was excellent. We were thrilled with the view off the expansive front porch with quaint Adirondack chairs. It was unseasonably warm so we could enjoy the vast beauty of the fall in comfort. If in the area again, this would certainly be on our "stay" list.

I broke my hip in December and wasn't able to play in the snow this year, but wanted a chance to at least LOOK at snowy mountains, specifically a place where I could sit and read and have a wonderful view when I raised by eyes from my book. Mountain View Grand filled the bill perfectly, esp. the library. We got a good deal on a room with our AAA discount and having read Trip Advisor comments, I asked for a room that would not require long walks down halls and lots of stairs. We were first given a room right off the lobby that was just plain cold, with the heat controlled along with the lobby temperature. Not good. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a nearby room and were pleased with that. We were impressed with the quality of the restoration work at the hotel, the friendliness of the staff, and the food in the restaurant. Service was slow the second night, but when our dinner arrived it was so good that we forgot the wait. We enjoyed a visit to the barn and the interesting information posted there about the animals. I even managed to do a brief, 20-30 minute, snowshoe around the inn with the aid of two ski poles. The dog team passed us en route, which was fun. All in all, we were delighted with our stay.

We went last week, hotel is fabulous, large wrap around porch with rockers, think old New England charm, big fireplaces, thick bedding and huge fluffy towels. Area is breathtaking, the views spectacular surrounded by 57 mountain peaks sunsets gorgeous. Food excellent they have a farm out in the back where they raise cattle and grow food. Place very clean and quiet though there were many families also there. Views from everywhere. A quiet library, a comfortable game room, lovely painted grotto of a pool area with hottub. The gym is very clean and they had fitness classes twice a day.
The spa was amazing, clean, relaxing. Had a terriffic massage and the infinity pool in the tower has a 360 degree view while soaking in it, very romantic. Totally relaxing. Many activities, dogsleds, tubing, snowmobiles, making smores over campfire out front & axe throwing contests in the am. There is a movie theatre on lower level we never even saw. Going back in summer

Room Tip: I am not sure if there is a bad room, we were 1 floor up from lobby in front with sweeping views of the mountains covered in snow. Quiet and very clean. Bathroom lovely. Quite charming.
