The Mountain View Grand has been a favorite get away destination for my husband and I and our two children, ages 11 and 9, for the past 5 years. We have visited several times for New Year's Eve and for the past two years, have visited with our extended family for the Thanksgiving holiday. The experience is nothing short of spectacular. The Thanksgiving buffet is delicious and diverse (however, we were disappointed that the hotel automatically added a 20% gratuity to our bill for a buffet... which seemed excessive and unreasonable to us). The children are very welcome at the resort, and they love the casual and cozy atmosphere, where it is perfectly acceptable for them to curl up in the lobby in their pajamas and slippers in the morning. The highlight of the weekend is the day after Thanksgiving surprise... waking up in the morning is a special treat, as the resort has been transformed overnight by some very energetic "elves" from Thanksgiving decor to beautiful Christmas decorations in every corner. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at the resort, and look forward to many more, including in 5 short weeks for New Year's Eve. We have recommended it to dozens of friends, and will continue to do so in the future.

Room Tip: Room 164 is a beautiful corner room which provides an expansive view of the mountains. We have stayed in this room a couple of times and really love it.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review and for sharing your Thanksgiving holiday with us. Management has addressed the 20% gratuity automatically assessed on holiday buffets. We will no longer be automatically adding the gratuity to the buffet prices. Our Mountain View Grand elves were certainly busy transforming the resort into a magical, holiday wonderland after Thanksgiving. We look forward to seeing you again for our end of the year celebration.

Cordially,
Monica Blessing

We have been on many vacations but always come back to the Mountain View Grand. There is something about sitting on the grand front porch, rocking back and forth, looking at the mountains (having a drink) that is what vacation is all about. The grounds are spectacular. We love the indoor pool with the hidden picture wall and the outdoor pool which is beautifully decorated with lovely chairs and tables. My husband loves the golf course and the view of Mount Washington when he Tee's off.
The bar is big and casual and serves delicious food and the staff is always friendly. The front lobby with its fireplace and game tables are sure to please.. check out the movie theatre with fantastic theatre chairs and popcorn. The rooms are lovely with beautiful window treatments and plenty of fluffy towels in the bathroom. I have come here for every birthday and will continue God willing year after year.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting that will satisfy couples and families alike. There is the opportunity for as much peace and quiet or fun and activities as you desire. We visited here with our two teenage daughters near the end of the foliage season. We went on a trail ride one misty morning, which was beautiful, and a nice way to enjoy the outdoors. We played board games in the parlor, pool and air hockey in the game room, and watched a movie in the movie theatre. The only down side is the Tavern restaurant; food was just so so, and considering that it is the only place to eat besides the fancy restaurants on site, there just wasn't enough variety on the menu. The breakfast buffet was good, but very expensive to feed a family of 4. Next time, I would take the suggestion of other reviewers and visit Grandma's Kitchen down the road. We did have dinner in Littleton one night (15 minute drive) where there are plenty of places to eat. We enjoyed the Italian Oasis. All in all, this grand hotel exceeded my expectations, and we plan on returning one day.

We had the pleasure of spending our past weekend at the hotel for our honeymoon. All I can say is - wow. We were so pleased with the entire experience!! We checked in on a Friday, and the front desk was excellent with offering a list of activities that were being held both on and off the grounds. This hotel has everything from a movie theatre to axe throwing to horse carriage rides. There is truly something for everyone here.
We stayed in one of the suites, and it ended up being too big for us! We had a total of ten windows in our room, all overlooking the mountains - so beautiful. Friday night we ended up booking a table in the wine cellar for dinner. The food, very pricey - but very worth it!! It was all so delicous!! The cellar is quaint and quiet - the perfect atmosphere for a romantic dinner. Our server, Keith, was dressed in a formal tuxedo and treated us like kings and queens... This was the best food, the best staff, and the most wonderful experience we have had anywhere before. Anything we needed was given to us with a smile and most of the time without us even asking.
The other nights we spent at the hotel we dined in the Tavern. We found that lunch service was so-so, while dinner service was excellent. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and making friends with some of the bartenders, all who remembered us from the first time we sat down, and remembered our beverage of choice each time. The food again was amazing. You can taste how fresh all of the ingrediants are. I ordered a burger med-well and it came out a little more on the burnt side, so I had to send it back. However, we ended up getting a free round of drinks out of it, and the second burger was cooked perfectly!
Overall, the food is impeccable.. the service was perfect, and the atmosphere of the entire staff was friendly, positive, and so warm.
You could not be dissapointed by this hotel, and if you are - as some of the reviewers were - all you need to do is speak your mind and the staff will do whatever it takes to make your day brighter.
We cannot wait to go back!

We chose to stay at the Mountain View Grand over an island vacation. We had a wonderful stay. Weather was great and we were able to golf. We horseback rode with a very knowledgeable rider. The grounds are meticulous and the hotel is elegant. The meals in the Tavern and breakfast in the dining room were delicious. We were not disappointed in any way that we chose a White Mountain vacation!!
