My husband and I stayed in cottage no.9 three times during the past two years. Because it is a small cottage there was't any shock or dissapointment that the shower/bathroom was small-it is a cottage afterall, not the Taj Mahal. They keep the soap and hair shampoo and conditoner in wall moiunhted pumps and a simple squirt of each quickly clues you in to what is what. The important thing is the cottage was clean, the bathroom/shower area was clean and the staff friendly and attentive. There is a small kitchen sink area complete with pots and pans basics, cutlery, plates and glasses. Also a microwave and coffeemaker (although Dunkin Donuts is up the road)Not in the mood to cook? Several restaraunts are just up the hill, you can order to pick up and walk the food back w/o it getting cold. Hop in the car and you can eat zat the nearby legendary Hart's Turkey Farm. For a couple or three people the wee but comfy cottage( this particular cottage includes ai rconditoning/heating unit) is a wonderful simple getaway. When it rained we played games, when it was sunny we took the car and headed out to local attractions, antique stores, farm stands, the oldest general store in Amderica, The Annalee outlet store and even the edge of the white mountains. We hung out in the carnival atmosphere arcades, drove up to the other end of the blvd to watch a good old fashioned double feature out door movie and drove toward the tonier areas of the lake regions. Coming home at night we were welcomed by a larger than mos(at least by cottage standards) screened in porch-a place to while away the evening hours whether you are young( enjoy the local homemade candy just across the road or older(fresh cheeses and wines from the area farms..The porch includes a table and chairs and cheery window boxes. So, if rain or bugs are an issue, this porch serves as a lovely, protective spot located next to a small grill and a clothesline. The cottage is situated just a cabin away from the swimming pool which is clean and affords those who enjoy evening swims the oppurtunity to splash beneath the stars. For their mates, who are not necessarily swimmers, the patio area of the pool is large with many a lounge chair and table to chose from. The motel is located far enough away from the boardwalk so noise is not an issue, but close enough so that walking distance is convienient. A night stroll on the boardwalk is sweetly romantic, as is the chance to take a night cruise on the famed Mount Washington boat. Again within walking distance of The Weirs Beach Motel. Also launching from the same spot is The Sophia and her sister ship The Doris, both are the only floatring post offices in the country and both offer daytrips as they deliver mail to those who live on the many smnall islands that dot the lake. Gorgeous scenery that at times includes sunset cruises. The Motel is also a short walk from The Hobo railrod, a fun train trip around the lake area, particularlly lovely in fall. Though there is the occassional noise from the road (which shouldn't be a shock to anyone since the hotel is located on the main thorofare) noise is quite minimal as the motel sits at the end of the `main drag'. For the most part peace reigns. Avoid Bike week, of course, if you are looking for relaxation and quiet. Since the motel was bought by thye current owners back in 2010 (and what a friendly, hardworking family they are) they have worked to upgrade the asthetic and utilitarian. They are quick to help if there is a problem and quick with a smile overall. My husband and I married before his deployment back in 2010 and spent a short honeymoon here and another few days befrore he shipped out for a year. Several months before my husband returned on leave leave the motel owners patiently and happily worked with me when I had to change reservationn dates to accomodate my husbands ever changing date of return. In short, This is a wonderful place for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, well maintained spot that evokes images of vacations from an earlier time, when staying in a small cottage was consiodered quaint, fun, romantic (or family friendly depending on who you are with lol ) and service provided by kind, smiling, prompt, helpful family owners was and is appreciated.
