The weekend after Thanksgiving Santa comes to Waterville Valley, the kids loved it. We stayed at the Golden Eagle on the back side of Waterville Valley so close and we could walk to all the activities within minutes. The room was great from a Murphy bed that the kids thought was amazing a bed in the wall, to a full Kitchen. They had self-serve tea and coffee in the lobby at all times. I was very impressed and we will be staying here again without a doubt. I will say the indoor pool was a little cool for the kids and the hot tubs were not heated they were colder than the pool. So you also had passes to go up to the club and their pool was bigger and warmer so we just went up there. If you are going to be using the kitchen bring your food the store in the Valley is a little more pricey than the average store. The closest Dunkin Donuts is 11 miles away. Still we had a blast fun family time, long ride for us but worth it. All the people at the desk are so nice and very helpful with dinner suggestions, not to mention we lost a key and that was no problem....Loved it here see you next year :)

My husband & I visited for 5 days while I attended a conference at the Waterville Valley conference center (which was nice, though many workshops were in the lower level with no windows). The conference center is a short walk (equivalent of a block). The lodge had a nice lobby/ common area with morning coffee. Free internet/computer available. All the rooms are different, each individually owned. We were allowed to see several on check-in to choose the one we preferred. Receptionists are friendly, accommodating. Though not too knowledgeable of the area and the hours of things. We were there the 2nd week of September, in the "off season", so some things (restaurants, some shops and rec activities) were closed or had reduced hours. There was a mandatory $16.95 daily resort fee, though we received no benefit from it. There's no daily paper, though it does come with a "resort pass" that includes a 2 hr daily bike rental in the town center, 9 holes golf, boat rental, tennis, athletic club, ice arena, resort shuttle, and a jewelry making class. I went by the jewelry-making shop, but it turned out to be that they make the item and just give you $5 off the beads (which might cover 1 nice bead or several tiny ones). At the lodge's suggestion, we went to the chair lift to give a view of the mountain area, but it was closed during the week (front desk was unaware and didn't apologize for sending us for naught). It's a pretty area (unfortunately, the leaves hadn't turned - mid October for that) with scenic lakeside towns with good restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: We chose a 1-BR unit (#303) on one level (some units have stairs) and it was quite nice with living...

We have been up to Golden Eagle many times over the past 4 years and absolutely love spending time there. We've stayed in a variety of rooms on each trip and do not have a complaint. Some rooms are more spacious than others, but all are very comfortable and roomy with incredible views of the mountains or town square. In every unit we have stayed in, the beds have been extremely comfy, the kitchen has everything we have needed and the condo has been spotless. We love taking advantage of the pass which gives access to Mt. Snow, the canoes/paddle boats, the ice rink and more. My daughter enjoys just walking into town and browsing thru the shops, followed by an evening of swimming in the pool, which is always at a comfortable temperature and clean. The management and staff have always been very helpful. Can't wait to go back again.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Lodge.. both times we had 9 people with us, varying in ages from 9-72... we stayed on the 4th floor (same condo both times, actually). The condo was quite spacious, and held us all with relative ease. The amenities that are offered are fantastic. The pond is wonderful for taking out a canoe, kayak, or going for a swim. There is a great indoor pool and the passes to the athletic club offer an outdoor pool as well (including a second indoor pool).
Waterville Valley is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the world around, and nestled in a quiet area surrounded by mountains and beauty. I would highly recommend the Lodge to anyone.
Feel free to call and speak with the staff in regards to different room availabilities as each condo is different. Make sure to invest some time and learn what is in and around the town and make sure it is the right place for you. But I assure you, there is plenty to do and it is conveniently located to any of the White Mountain activities from surrounding areas.

Room Tip: Call the staff, let them know what type of room you are looking for; quiet, view etc. They will help...

My family has been heading to GEL for an early summer weekend for the past 10 years. We try to get the same unit if possible as it's roomier than some others. The facilities are well maintained... staff friendly and the kitchen in the unit is well equipped. We stop by the market in Plymouth on our way in as the General Store is town is expensive and limited-- but expected. With the "Adventure Pass" we can bike, swim, hike, play golf and relax. Most units have dvd players-- but bring your own dvd's as the rental selection is limited... a redbox in closeby in Plymouth-- when getting groceries at the Hannaford's. Be forewarned... there is no A/C, but fans. It's never been a problem for us... evenings have been cool enough that the fan makes it pleasant. You're not looking for action here... just rest and relaxation. A shuttle will take you around to the outskirt areas, so cars aren't needed while you're there. We did the teen camp years ago with our niece and nephew and they had the best time... met other teens and they all hung out in a safe environment together. I would recommend property. The "town" is created for the condos/hotels, so there isn't really too much there, but you can grab a cup of coffee or sandwich and my son loves the pub restaurant with big screen tv and 1/2 night of burgers, pasta, etc... Very casual. A nice yearly getaway.

Room Tip: While folks have said don't get the porch room; that's our favorite as it's a bigger uni...

Just spent 4 days at this hotel, attending a graduation/family reunion celebration. The management and staff were totally accomodating and our condo was very comfortable. Location is perfect, rooms all have fabulous views and we loved spending family time on the front porch and in the lobby. Nice pool plus hot tub and sauna on the premises. This is great place to hold a large family event, we had 37 total and most stayed at the Golden Eagle. Everything you could want is within walking distance, food, golf, tennis, hiking, biking, boating and the Summer Unlimited Package gave us all these options and more. Given how large the condos are you can make this a very affordable vacation. Check it out!!!

Room Tip: The condos are all a little different so let them know what ammenities you want.

The lodge is centrally located in the heart of Waterville Valley so from a convenience standpoint its great. However the rooms are a mixed bag. We discovered that they have A, B, and C grade rooms and according to the company that manages the building they have no control over the condition the condo owners have the units in. Unfortunately for us we had a C-grade room (#429). The beds were very uncomfortable and in poor condition. The trundle was not connected to the rest of the bed frame; simply a wood box on the floor. My 13-yr old son described the mattress as a "bunch of springs with cloth stretched across the top." The bathtub/shower drain barely opened so you had 2 inches of water accumulation on your feet.

Room Tip: Ask for an A or B
