Good facilities and great amenities.

There should be better supervision of facilities for the safety of children and the enjoyment of adults.

Enjoyed our time here immensely in spite of less than ideal weather. Great spot for a family vacation.

I recently stayed at the Black Bear Lodge during a conference and I am looking forward to going back there for a vacation. The staff was very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the views are amazing. We had drinks on the outdoor deck at night which has a great view of the mountains. The town square is directly across the parking lot and has some good restaurants and a bar. A great place to relax!

Black Bear Lodge was a hit with our family. Great value. The family amenities in the area are included (kayaks, bikes, golf, tennis, pools, chair lift, athletic club). Rooms were all clean. Staff members were very helpful and friendly. Our original room was in the basement. It was clean but nothing special. Just by chance, we ran into Sandy at the front desk. She offered to show us the renovated rooms, which were truly fabulous. As different folks own each room, the renovation status of the rooms varies. Ask for a renovated room or loft. The lofts are really cool. Kids will love it.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room or a loft. We were originally in a non-renovated room, which was fine, but the renovated rooms are MUCH nicer. All were clean, though.

Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed all that the Black Bear Lodge and Waterville Valley has to offer. We recently stayed (June 2013) at Black Bear Lodge in Waterville Valley. I have been to WV Valley many times in the past because it is one of my favorite places to ski in the northeast, but this was our first summer trip...we will definitely be back!!!. I have stayed at a few different places in the valley, but most enjoy Black Bear lodge. It is super clean, the staff is incredibly friendly and you cannot beat the location (we stayed this time in a third floor unit and had a beautiful view from the deck). We had a great dinner...and a few drinks!...at the Lantern Restaurant, and were very happy that it was a short and pleasant stroll back to our room. We are already planning a fall foliage/'leaf peeping' visit this fall!

The staff of The Black Bear Lodge is exceptionally helpful and pleasant. From the front desk personnel to the housekeeping staff and maintenance, we were very pleased with their knowledge, competence and professionalism. Our accommodations were spacious, exceptionally clean and well appointed. Waterville Valley is blessed with abundant natural beauty and the views from the third floor deck of The Black Bear are awe inspiring. We stayed here in the spring, the quiet season in the Valley. However, it appears that there are many family activities offered during the summer months. The accommodations at The Black Bear would seem ideal for a family as there is an indoor/outdoor pool, game room, exercise room, and it is an easy stroll to town square. There are a number of restaurants in the town square from The Blue Moon Café, offering a very good breakfast and lunch (and what nice young people working there!); The Lantern with great food and amazing views (book Table 1 for the best seat in the house). The bartender will remember your favorite libation after your first visit-- how could it get better than that! There is Legends sports bar (nice patio in the back along the Mad River) and a pizza company. The General Store stocks all the basic provisions and also does breakfast and lunch sandwiches. And it is all within walking distance of The Black Bear Lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and will be back!

Room Tip: The third floor rooms have easy access to a large deck where you can enjoy cocktails in the evening while viewing the glorious sunsets or have morning coffee (provided in the lobby) watching the sun rise over the mountains.
