“Wonderful dinner and dessert”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Though called a café on the outside sign, inside is elegant dining. Our early evening dinner was wonderful and the chocolate desserts even better. Be sure to save enough room to eat dessert! Don't go with dieting in mind! Good wine list and service was perfect.

“Always great!”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Warm and cozy ambiance with delicious food and great service. What more can you ask for.
We have been going here for years, as our daughter went to college nearby. It has been consistent and "feels like home" only better. They do something special to the chicken, always
tender, moist and tasty. Everything is creative and appealing and served with special attention.

“Top notch!”

Burdick's is a special place. My wife and I have eaten there several times. Both brunch and dinner are excellent. It's a large space, but nicely laid at and very comfortable. Reservations ARE necessary. Plan ahead and enjoy!

“Lovely atmosphere, exceptional chocolates, good food”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Burdick Chocolates was recommended to us, so we decided to stop in Walpole on our way home from a day in Vermont. The village of Walpole is a busy place and Burdick Chocolates is no exception. It was 2:30 in the afternoon and we were asked if we had reservations. We did not. The place was packed. Dress is nice/casual in the restaurant, but the take out is anything goes. I will say the staff was pleasant, saw to our every need and we were seated after a few minutes wait. We started with one red and one white glass of wine, and the wine was very good (we ordered house) so we were off to a good start. The bread and butter came next and maybe because it was lunch I found the crusts rather hard. The bread was not warmed, but it was tasty. Next came our appetisers, we both ordered the Charcuterie Plate and there was a sausage round that was hard and chewy, however, it had a lot of flavour. The veggies on the plate were exceptional, the meats were just ok. I ordered the Steak Frites which was melt in your mouth tender, with the best French fries I think I've ever had. My companion ordered the House Beef Stew and said it was a little too rich for her, but she said it was very good. For dessert we both ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte (exceptional) and a slice of the Engadiner Nusstorte. The torte's filling was exceptional, but the crust was rock hard. We could not cut it with our forks, and when no one was looking used our hands to cut it in half. We happened into the Chocolate Shop next door after lunch, and bought chocolates for the kiddies. They have Halloween theme candy choices which are quite clever and a huge chocolate haunted house which got a lot of attention. The chocolates are excellent. The Lunch cost us just over $100, our table and chairs were comfy and the view of the busy village was rather nice. We both wondered about the hardness of some of the foods and wondered if it was because things stood out and it was a very late lunch. So not sure why that was, but if for that I'd have said the lunch was exceptional.
