Attraction details
Owner description: Explore over 200 years of self-sustained living as we preserve the agricultural way of life in New Hampshire. Discover agricultural practices, domestic customs, sustainable living traditions and the important contribution of the country doctor. Interact with the landscape settled by the Remick family in 1790, whose generations rose to prominence in farming and other pursuits, including two country doctors: Dr. Edwin Remick and his son, Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick-for a combined 99 years they served the rural community in which they lived. Observe how Remick's uniqueness extends beyond its village setting and role in history. As a working farm, the buildings are an integral part of the Museum and include milk, ice, and maple sugar houses, a stable and a woodsman's shop. The story of the farm comes to life as you tour the property, engage with farm animals and witness daily chores. Take in heirloom gardens, walking trails and views of Mount Chocorua; an enjoyable setting for photographers and birders. Tour the Captain Enoch Remick House, built in 1808 and on the National Register of Historic Places, which contains antique furnishings of the Remick family, the original doctors' office, an apothecary and murals attributed to the American painter John Avery (early 19th century). Conveniently nestled in a "less traveled" area between the White Mountains and Lakes Region, interactive experiences occur each season: winter beauty and historic pastimes; spring planting and newborn animals; summer growth and daily activities; fall foliage and harvest. Open year-round. All ages. Workshops, classes, lectures, demonstrations. Museum Store. Walking trails. Open and covered picnic spots. Fishing pond (bring your own fishing pole). Farm stand (seasonal). Farm-fresh eggs. Farm-raised meats (while supplies last).

This is a GREAT place to take the kids and family to see what a working farm was like a 100 years ago. Wonderful exhibits, farm animals and a wonderful staff. Not to be missed. Look for the special events, especially the dinners and Winter Carnival

“A fun place to visit”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

If you are interested in what things were like in "the old days" you will love the Remick Museum. From ice-cutting in the winter time to sled dog rides for the kids, to singing songs around a campfire, to seeing little lambs and goats, it's a great experience for the whole family.

“It's something to do in Tamworth”
Reviewed December 9, 2010

I went here once in the dead of winter when there was plenty of snow on the ground. However, we visited the Farm for a sleigh ride. Despite the frigid temperature and whipping winds, the ride was pleasant and a bargain at $5 a person. The people there were quite nice and the museum part of the farm seemed interesting. I was more interested in the sleigh ride...the history of farming, technology, and such didn't really tickle my fancy.
