This was our first stay at the Tartan Fox. Our room was cozy and inviting. The breakfasts were amazing, especially the scones and eggs benedict. We didn't need to eat lunch in our four day stay. The wi-fi in our room was great too. The inn was located near everything we wanted to do in the area. The only thing we regretted was not having more time to spend there.

We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit to the Tartan Fox, and know that you will be back :) It was a real joy meeting with you and chatting before and after breakfast.

We have stayed @ the Tartan Fox many times in our sons 4 yrs. @ Keene State College & all have been enjoyable! From Mike's ( innkeepers Mike & Liza) e-mail b 4 arrival if there was anything special we needed, to their warm, gracious hospitality throughout, we could not have felt more welcome in such a lovely, well appointed Inn!
We are so happy our niece will be a freshman @ KSC so we will have more opportunities to stay @ the Tartan Fox!

It was so great having the two of you this year. Since we took over the Tartan Fox in August of 2013, we have met so many great guests who come again and again. We are just delighted that we lived up to and exceeded your expectations this year and look forward to at least four more years! Perhaps more!

My wife and I just spent the weekend at the Inn and had a great time. Michaels breakfasts were fantasitc and we didn't even think of lunch until 2PM we were so full. The room was very clean and "homey" which is exactly what we want when we are away from our home. The bed was so comfortable we slept so much longer than we usually do.

We will surely be back to the Inn.

Thank you for the warm praise of your visit and our breakfast. We like to joke that although area dining establishment love us, those who serve lunch find their business a tiny bit slower due to our breakfasts! Seriously though I'm so glad that you had the time to visit with us, and we sure look forward to seeing you again.

We stayed here for one night on the way up to northern Vermont. It is a cute little place with very nice owners. There were no other guests that night, so we had our choice of rooms. The room itself was very nice and clean. The rest of the house was also very cozy and clean, with a big fireplace in one room and beautiful woodwork throughout.

The breakfast was delicious and more than we could eat. On our way out, we stopped in the little gift shop that they had setup. We bought some locally bottled maple syrup, though they also had jams, jellies, etc., and even little wood carvings made by the owner.

We were glad we chose this place and would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for a couple of nights during our fall colors tour. This was just we needed, great rooms in a comfortable house, with a gracious host. We made use of the family room, played games in front of the fireplace, and enjoyed the provided beverages. Breakfast was also great.

We were driving through New England on a fall foliage tour and stayed in an upstairs room at the Tartan Fox which was extremely clean and very comfortable. Mike had recently acquired the Inn and could not have been a better host. The Inn is immaculate and the location is secluded but close enough to restaurants and shops to be convenient. Mike is an excellent cook and made a wonderfully tasty Eggs Benedict for breakfast. He obviously enjoys playing host and went out of his way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We're sorry we couldn't stay more than one night, but are grateful he could accommodate our last minute request for a room. If we are ever in the area again, we will be sure to stay at the Tartan Fox for more than just one night. Mike, thanks for a great visit and fantastic food!

My husband and I stayed here during a very busy weekend for the area and had a wonderful stay. The innkeepers were very accommodating and had great communication leading up to and during our stay. The breakfast conversation and atmosphere was just as great as the food itself (which was the best breakfast we've had in a long time!).

The Inn is easy to find and located in a great part of the state. When booking we were slightly skeptical since it was
one of the less expensive inns we looked at but we certainly do not regret our decision.

We will definitely be returning for a stay soon!

You won't find rows of flowers lined up like soldiers, I take a more free hand approach. Volunteers grow where they pop up, weeds are pulled, and we try to have habitat that caters to our many species of song birds. The Meadmere Home is a gorgeous older structure that was built in 1832 and most recently housed the studio of Norma Stafford, an artistic icon to the Keene area. We enjoy keeping that tradition by maintaining a local artisan gift shoppe on the premises that showcases local Monadnock artistry. ... more   less
