This is the place to eat in the Newbury/Newport/Sunapee area. A relaxed pub atmosphere with an amazingly talented chef. The menu selections are impressive, given that this place used to be all about bar food. So surprisingly tasty! DON'T MISS THIS PLACE - you will LOVE it.

Did not know the prior owner or management, but understand that this place has really upped its game as of late. Excellent selection of gourmet entrees and a knowledgable staff when it comes to gluten intollerence. Not particularly a "duck guy" but tried it and loved it. Usually taste too much of the fat, but this version of duck was incredibly lean and tastes. Tried the roasted acorn squash on the next visit and loved it too. The flat margarettas are dangerous - watch out.

My husband, daughter and I dined at One Mile West Monday night. Service was friendly and efficient. My husband and I split the Wendell Salad, a tasty combination of spicy arugula, dried cranberries, red onion and brie wedges. The vinaigrette was on the sweet side (we should have asked for balsamic), and adding pecans or walnuts, and/or a piece of crispsy toasted bread would have given it an extra crunch. My husband enjoyed the crabmeat stuffed sole and I was happy with the taste and presentation of the roasted acorn squash (although I was eyeing those diners who ordered the baked stuffed lobster from the New Year's Eve special menu). Our daughter had a delicious dish of fettucine from the "virtual" children's menu served with butter and shredded parmaesan cheese -- along with a side of fries that she didn't expect or need. Restauranteers -- get creative -- offer some fruit or veggies to kids as a side! The chocolate molten cake had my name all over it, however we declined dessert to dash off for fireworks. Atmosphere was fun and seemed to be a popular stop for locals, all gracious and appearing to have a good time in the bustling bar area. The food is better than the last time we dined here and definitely worth returning, especially to try a few dishes from the appetizers menu.

We were unaware that there was a new chef at One mile and we were very pleasantly surprised by the changed menu. Some of their very good bar items were replaced with more upscale entrees.I had the lamb shank with a delicious fresh mushroom sauce and polenta; excellent! Two of the others had the flatiron steak which they loved. We highly recommend the new items! We are local and we shall return more often.
It has always had a good rep for bar food and bar atmospere and they still have that but better.Old habits are hard to break and three of us had the flat margharita before dinner; you'll think you are in Cabo. Domestic margharitas don't get any better. Crazy drinks to have before such meals but they are so good!

We got a chance to taste the new menu at One Mile West. Definitely worth the trip. A new chef formerly of the Norwich Inn, has created a new menu featuring great appetizers, garlic shrimp cocktail, mussels, baked Brie among others and entrees featuring seafood risotto, lamb shank, chicken saltimbocca, grilled salmon, a beef pasta dish, BBQ ribs and others. My definite favorites were the mussels, the salmon, the beef pasta and the seafood risotto. We are definitely going back and taking area visitors when we can
