“Hosts With The Most”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2010

We are from the UK and were touring New England as part of a wider trip to the north-east of the USA. We selected The Hilltop Inn, after much research (including Tripadvisor), as our base to explore the White Mountain region. It proved to be the perfect location for our stay in the area. Meri and Mike were the perfect hosts, with Meri even acting as taxi driver one evening to transport us to/from a local restaurant. The house and facilities were first rate, and the breakfasts were superb. Thanks to all concerned.

It was a special moment in time. . . peaceful, special. Meri and Mike provided exactly what we wanted. They didn't hover but were there. The room was charming, comfortable, clean. Meri's breakfasts are wonderfully prepared and artistically presented. Whatever you have a taste for, she can to it. After a glass of wine by the fire, Meri and Mike felt like friends. We were so pleased that we are planning a late-September wedding reception with them!

Beautiful inn; stellar location. Relax inside or outside. Stroll the grounds, or take of to see all of the incredible near by attractions. You can't go wrong staying in Sugar Hill at the Hilltop Inn. And breakfast is so yummy!

Just came back from a lovely weekend at the Hilltop Inn. The owners are very warm and friendly and make some of the best pancakes I've ever had! Furthermore, they were very helpful and recommended a great restaurant for dinner and a beautiful hike. It is a great spot for a relaxing weekend away.

We stayed here in June 2010 having picked it by visiting the visitor's centre in Franconia. We were undecided how long we would stay, either two or three nights. In the end we stayed for six! Our room was so comfortable and well furnished, there was tea, coffee and home made cookies available throughout the day along with any soft drinks you wanted. Meri and Mike and their dogs were so welcoming and made you feel at home instantly. The location is stunning and so quiet and a perfect base for exploring the area. We were lucky and saw bears, moose and otters amongst other things. Meri is a chef and her breakfasts were magnificent, with something different every day of our stay. Meri and Mike are both very knowledgeable about the area and there is a comprehensive guide there to the local restaurants with excellent directions printed out. If we are ever in the area again we would certainly stay there again and cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. By the end of our stay, our hosts felt more like friends.

We just 'stumbled' into this B&B prize surfing the internet. For 27 years, the Hern's have opened their lovely New England home to overnight guests hosting a casual atmosphere with beautiful flowers in the yard and Meri's special touch with 'imported' scarecrows. Each comfortable bedroom room is unique with every accommodation. You may be assured of a warm welcome, easy conversation, a great breakfast and knowledge of the local area and its inhabitants. If you have a desire for easy living in the White Mountains, check out the Hilltop Inn, Sugar Hill, NH.
