We loved this place! It is teeny weeny but super yummy. Dogs, sausage, chili fries and to die for blueberry cake....

We stopped ito Gilleys on a Friday at lunch time. Since there are just 8 stools we were lucky to be bale to grab a seat and enjoy our lunch at the counter. We loved this little place. The food was so good as was the staff and fellow guest. Can't wait to go back.

You have to have one of Gilley's speciality hot dogs with fries and a drink if you come to Portsmouth NH. Small but quaint, food excellent a must "do".

What can I say about a place that served diner food until 2am. It's not gourmet but sure hits the spot in the late evenings.

I had read about Gilley's a few years ago but for several trips to Portsmouth, we just never quite caught the timing right. We aren't night owls but I would love to see the lines outside Gilley's at 1 am!!
We walked over from the Residence inn on a Monday at 12:30 for lunch. While we love a gourmet burger , some of our favorites are from places just like Gilley's ... Harrys in CT, or shake shack in NYC where a burger is less than $5 and in the case of Gilley's ...just over $3. How can you beat that?
SLIDE the door open and step into an area with stools for 8 and a friendly woman who doubles as cook, greeter and cashier. We each order cheeseburgers and a cheese dog to split. No fries as we are heading over for some Lobster bisque from another favorite spot before heading home.
The burgers aren't thick but are tasty..the buns are warm, soft and grilled. Cheese is white!!
It is $ 0.25 for a dog to be grilled. It arrives in a perfectly grilled bun with slightly melted white American! Both are great..superb for the price. Cheese fries seem to be a favorite as we listened to a family order as we ate then a group of 4 young adults all order the cheese fries.
It is the 100th anniversary according to a sign outside. It's a unique spot in a great town and well worth taking the time to give it a try. It will certainly be added to out list of Portsmouth favorites!
PS..open until 2am!!
