We visited Rudi’s on a Sunday night, over the Labor Day weekend. The dining room was very pleasantly appointed as was the adjacent bar area. Our waitress was also pleasant and seemed to know the wine list and menu well. We found the food to be good but not great on our visit. The tuna tar tare and the tomato caprese appetizers were both tasty and nicely plated. What was disturbing was that after our appetizers were served the waitress returned to tell us that our Gnocchi entrée was no longer available for the night. This seemed odd given the amount of time that had passed since we had first ordered. When our dinners arrived a Risotto that replaced the Gnocchi seemed a bit under cooked. It had nice flavor but was just not properly cooked. As it was Risotto there was no sense in sending it back. One has to wonder if the kitchen rushed it out the door as we were far along into our dinner before it was ordered. The second entrée, a fresh pappardelle pasta, was properly cooked but the flavors didn’t meld into something to rave about. It was simply OK.
