“Good food and unique takes on old faves...”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

Got to Colby's early Labor Day Sunday, and it was packed by the time we left. Eggs Irish was perfect. Key. The poached eggs were properly prepared. We got one of the last orders of cinnamon swirl French toast. Very fortunate for us. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for bfast.

“Best breakfast & lunch place”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Went here 2 mornings while staying in Portsmouth. The restaurant is small and parking can be challenging in the area...beware of the 15 minute parking meters nearby...look for a 3 hour one. I kept feeding quarters into a meter not knowing that it wouldn't give me more than 15 minutes and no refund! The food was worth the loss of quarters though. Everything was yummy, prices were great and portions were large. We were there at 11:30, which was perfect to order breakfast or lunch. We tried the heuvos rancheros, blueberry walnut pancakes (huge, made with some cornmeal, delicious!), clam chowder, a tuna sandwich and a breakfast platter with eggs, ham and homefries. The coffee was strong and delicious. Make sure to go to Colby's if you are in Portsmouth, you won't be disappointed!

“It may have been the hangover...”
Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

We were in a desperate search of breakfast one Saturday morning and Friendly Toast had over an hour wait. Colbys still had a wait but not nearly as long and they have coffee outside for while you're waiting!

The menu is extensive, the portions are enormous, and you can't complain about the prices at all. I don't like French toast but if you do, definitely get the cinnamon roll French toast. They even have specials that look great.

“Thick-Sliced French Toast Was Scrumptious”

Outstanding little eatery for breakfast and lunch. Lobster Asparagus Eggs Benedict was terrific, as was the one-inch thick French Toast. Service was friendly and efficient.

“Awesome breakfast experience and cat paintings on the wall”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We loved Colby's and went there both mornings that we stayed in Portsmouth. Usually we like to mix it up a bit and visit several restaurants if we are staying in an area more than one day, but we saw so many good things on the menu during our first visit, that we had to go again. Service was fantastic. The place was not overcrowded and noisy and is the perfect size. We liked the cat paintings on the walls, too. Would go back again next time we are in town - great recipes and high quality food.
