Description: Located just two blocks down from Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jumpin' Jay's is a local foodie enclave serving refined seafood in a sleek restaurant setting. The quality of fare is unsurpassed, with fish arriving daily from local fisherman as well as some exotic catches from locations such as New Zealand and Ecuador. Four to six varieties of fish appear on the ever-changing "Catch of the Day" menu, complimented by your choice of gourmet sauce. Our raw bar offers an extensive variety of shellfish found in New Hampshire. Our specialties menu offers more traditional flavor, including Maine Crab Cakes, Haddock Piccata and our popular Linguine in White Clam Sauce. The atmosphere is casually hip, with no pretense. Reservations encouraged. Open seven nights a week.

We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation and loved it! The cocktail shrimp were so fabulous and you even get to add your own horseradish to your cocktail sauce to make it to your liking. Amazing restaurant that isn't pretentious at all!

By all means, order your favorite fish from the daily listing on the blackboard. It could only be fresher if you caught it yourself. Delightful food & very laid-back atmosphere with great
value and the most attentive and considerate service, especially from our waitress Chelsea.
This is THE place to go for casual gourmet fresh seafood!

My family treated me to dinner at Jay's for my birthday. Everything was fantastic as usual. My very rare seared tuna with the wasabi and mandarin/sesame sauces was as good as it gets. My wife's huge diver scallops with the lobster veloute was perfect and my daughter's swordfish with garlic herb butter was moist and delicious.

We've been several times and have never been disappointed. It's great to pick your fish and pair it with the sauce you like. There are a lot of great choices for dining in Portsmouth and Jay's is one of the most consistent you'll find.

After spening a week in New England, we were on our way back to the sultry South but wanted one more meal of fresh seafood. Stopped in Portsmouth for a "wander" and lunch. On the recommendation of a local shopkeeper, we went to Jumpin' Jay's. We weren't disappointed. Has the fresh "day boat cod" sauted and served on the Boston Bibb salad. Yum! Wife had the fish tacos. Also yummy. Great service, too!
