We liked this sushi restaurant so much that we made a return visit. The tables along the window, which are low, with a foot well below are cute, but the rest of the decor is sort of bland 80's blond coffee shop decor. What sets this restaurant apart, though, is that the fish is wonderfully fresh and well prepared. The bento boxes are a bargain, tasty, filling, and nicely presented. The less than perfect elements were that the salad came drowned in the ginger dressing, with tired greens, there was a fly who kept dive bombing our table, and the somewhat indifferent service. The food made up for the downsides, but the overall rating is just a 4, whereas the sushi by itself merited a 5.

I have been going to Sake for the last 10 years. They have an excellent Sushi menu and they continue to improve every year. This is the best Sushi resaurant in the Portsmouth/seacoast area.

The food was OK. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. If you are in downtown Portsmouth area and crave for sushi, but don't want to drive 10 minutes to Shio, Sake will satisfy you.
The service was so-so. Even when I made an eye contact with the waitress, she would walk away.

We like Sake, when we're in Portsmouth Sake is reliable. The special rolls are well prepared, service is prompt and friendly. The prices are reasonable. The Nabeyaki udon was gigantic and full of all the good stuff. We haven't tried the other hot dishes yet but they looked good on others' plates. We like the booths by the windows where you can watch the traffic in and out of the other restaurants. The decor is simple, and not special, but the servers are always very good.
