“Best pizza but it's quirky”
Review of Savario's - CLOSED

This is the best pizza in town, bar none. But, the hours are weird, the pizzeria is tiny, and the toppings are limited. The owner does things his own way and the customer is not always right here. Put yourself in his hands, eat what he wants to make, and you'll start to wonder if he might be right.

Savarios is a regular staple in my diet, and I highly recommend it to any pizza/calzone connoissuer!

The dough and sauces used are fresh and homemade. The food is non-greasy.

The pizza-by-slice is prepared thin-crust, with just the right crispness, cheese-to-sauce and crust-to-topping ratios.

A lunch calzone is fresh from the oven (they are either perfectly fresh and waiting, or ready to be tossed in for a quick re-heat). I recommend either Black Olive, or Artichoke... but sausage, pepperoni, bacon, onion, mushroom, and spinach are also offered. At dinner you may have any choice of 3 topppings as well as ricotta.

The owner and his wife are the sole employees, they are very friendly (especially when there isn't a mad rush!) . Typically during lunch it is just Frank manning the store, you may wait for a couple minutes, but always receive service with a smile.

Short hours, a tiny store, but simply the best pizza in the area. We lived in Portsmouth for several years before discovering Savarios (it is the smallest store front in town) and now it is a near weekly treat. Fresh topping, whole olives, huge mushrooms, spicy pepperoni. Flatbread in Portsmouth makes great unique pizzas but Savario's is a traditional pizza that is second to none.

Best food for the money. Try a stuffed calzone in the evening. You won't believe it.
