Hampton Inn Portsmouth Central

It's not the most aesthetically pleasing location in Portsmouth, but the Hampton Inn is convenient to downtown Portsmouth and rt 95. More importantly, we had a very nice king room with a jacuzzi tub, free wifi and free parking, hot breakfast, good service, and a nice stay for a very reasonable AAA rate.

There is an issue with noise as you can hear other rooms and outside, but I would definitely return, as the good far outweighed the bad.

We stayed in the Hampton Inn for 1 night. The room was a little worn, but very clean. The free shuttle to downtown and back was very convenient. For the price difference with downtown hotels you can get a very nice dinner in town. The kingsize bed was comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was good. I would stay here again.

Made a reservation for a quiet, king, non-smoking room 6 months ago. When we arrived they were going to put us in a queen room. When I questioned that, the manager, rather ungraciously, found us a king room on the second floor 203. However we were directly above the entry, so heard people loading, unloading, and smoking outside all night. Plus the smoke traveled to our AC unit then in the room. To mask all the noise we couldn't even turn our AC/heat to fan - it only worked at high heat or freezing cold. Then in the very early morning we were really awakened by someone else's alarm! Plus this hotel was very expensive compared to several others (another Hampton in Middleton RI was fantastic, Marriott Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express all in the New England area). This Portsmouth Hampton was in a commercial area, not even by the ocean, or neat downtown. And as some minor things, the pillows were terrible, flattened immediately, and the toilet paper holder didn't "hold." Not a nice place to stay!

We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. This is a nice, clean, spacious, very quiet and well maintained Hampton Inn. A bit hard to find as it is off a main street behind some stores, but well worth it. Manager's reception on a Saturday evening offered free drinks, which was a nice touch. Short trip into downtown Portsmouth. Nice breakfast with lots of choices included. Would recommend if you are in the area.

We've travelled to many hotels this year. However, the Hampton Inn Portsmouth is the best place we've ever stayed. The entire staff welcomed my family to include our dog. We just moved to the area and felt a bit lost. The Hampton Inn staff helped our family find places, discussed and listened to our concerns. Heather from housekeeping is the most outgoing and professional person I've ever met. The time spent here was a friendly family orrientated place. The manager Vic, is very personable and really gives that welcome feeling. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

I stay in hotels about 100 nights per year, and without question the Hampton Inn in Portsmouth, NH is one I know I can count on for a clean room and excellent service in a very convenient location. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. I often have clients stay there as well because I know they will have a positive experience at a reasonable price. Breakfasts and evening receptions are great! The General Manager, Vic, sets a great example of customer service for his staff.

It was our yearly vacation and we had done a lot of research about where to stay. The Hampton Inn looked great and they allowed dogs, so we brought our fluff ball along. Well, our room was RIGHT next to a room that they were doing construction. It wouldn't have mattered if the weather hadn't been so terrible, and due to having the dog, we couldn't do or go anywhere. We stayed in our room and heard nothing but constant bang bang bang, sawing, yelling, etc. The biggest issue for us was that we had booked this trip way in advance so we would have appreciated the courtesy to have been placed in a room NOT beside construction. So much for sleeping in...OH AND their complementary breakfast was wasted too b/c, again with the dog, you aren't allowed to go anywhere (even in the hotel), so even our breakfast was spent in the horrible room with noise noise noise. Ugh I spent the week fuming and I continue to now. Oh, and do you think anyone at the hotel cared? NOPE! OMG it was a WASTE. There is a Courtyard Marriot down the street...GO THERE!
