“Gingerbread creme brulee, need I say more?”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Yes, Surf is an amazing seafood restaurant with an amazing view, but they really got me with the gingerbread creme brulee.

We met 4 friends for a special dinner at Surf. The view and service were exceptional, and the food was as well. I had a salmon filet with jasmine rice cake that was amazing. A friend had the surf & turf and practically swooned. And then came dessert which I have already raved about.

I recommend Surf for special occasions, but also for a casual night out.

“disappointed”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Decided to try this restaurant because of a Limelight Deal coupon ($15 for $30). Got the final bill, presented the coupon, and much to our surprise, the new total was only $23 less than the initial bill.
Upon reviewing the charges, we found that an extra item had been added after the discount was calculated. We don't believe the explanation that this was an accidental charge from one of the other five occupied tables in the restaurant. Something fishy going on here! Watch your bill.

Very sorry to hear about an extra item being added to your bill. I assume the situation was corrected immediately and you received the correct bill. This was a mistake that should not have happened and is certainly not our practice to defraud our guests. The Limelight deal is a great offer and has introduced a lot of people to our restaurant, many of whom have become regulars.

“Seafood Lovers Enjoy!”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

What a fabulous dinner my husband and I had at Surf! We were seated at a prime table overlooking the river and the view was just gorgeous. The waitstaff were all very professional and gave us the perfect amount of attention. The meal itself was absolutely wonderful. We HIGHLY recommend the Hot Stone appetizer, as it's an interactive fun experience! Our meals were equally delicious...Moroccan Spiced Scallops and Portugese Seafood Stew. Dessert was a brown sugar cake. All the food that we had was just scrumptous. The portions aren't huge, but appropriate for a nicer establishment such as this one. Yes, it's a tad pricer, but the quality and atmosphere reflect a nice adult atmosphere, which we can appreciate. Overall a fabulous dining experience!

“Great location, food was just OK”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

We like the location, the views are great, the staff very attentive. We both had the California Fish Tacos and they were virtually tasteless and with no texture... just bland and mushy. I would have liked some fresh guacamole and lime, maybe some cilantro or a tangy mayo.... 2 tacos, 5 beers and 6 shrimp cocktails cost us about $90. There are better tastes and value in the portsmouth area.

“Surf Sushi is wonderful fusion”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

They are doing something right at Surf Sushi - the atmosphere is nice, the sushi is great and the service is top notch. Try the spicey salmon Maki. The fresh vegetable rolls were also excellent. We've been there twice and enjoyed it both times. Jill was our most recent server - she was friendly, helpful and a good conversationalist. Her timing was perfect; always there when we needed her but didn't intrude when we were enjoying our dishes. Also try the dessert Maki - it's tasty and fun. Reservations are not excepted unless you have a party of six or more, so get there early or late and you shouldn't have a problem. Wednesdays are packed because some items on the menu (such as Maki) are half price. If you don't mind the crowd that night, it's worth the wait.
