“Delicious!”
Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Really great tapas with excellent service... Always keep in mind that this is an appetizer place, so the portions are not meal-sized.. Order lots! The food was delicious, especially the asparagus and game hen small plate! The wine selection is really, really good, with some wines I'd never had before (Lebanon makes wine?!). But the real reason to go to Cava is the outdoor atmosphere: the small patio is on a shelter cobble street with wall gardens). Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this place!

“Stunning tapas-style menu that NEVER disappoints”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We've been going here for years. It is the most consistent food, service and general experience of any place in Portsmouth. They never disappoint. The menu changes a few times a year, with stand-by's that never leave the menu.

The front and back are managed by friends and business partners and the core staff have been there for as long as I can recall.

The food is redic. I can honestly say I've been there more times than I should admit and always had a great experience. The chef's table is always pleasing to see, the deck is an open air cubby in a suave heavily foot trafficked alleyway, and the downstairs is a place you can own with 5 or 10 friends for a night.

They often have wine tastings, chef collab's, and one-price evening feasts centered around a theme (e.g. whole roasted pig or lamb and wine).

Remember, this is a Mediterranean-influenced tapas style bar/restaurant - so you get to try a few new and stunning items every time you go. We've been to them all here in Portsmouth, and Cava continues to be our old stand-by.

“Excellent Flavor, Great Service, Lovely Place”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This place is amazing! The food is very good, creative and tasty: the scallop cruda and the grilled baby octopus were our favorites.
Well prepared, fresh and unique. Service is friendly and efficient.
Wine selection pairs very well with this type of cuisine.
The atmosphere is fabulous: the little alley, the ivy covered brick walls, the lights... Wonderful!
