A wonderful site and place to spend the day. We were there four hours and saw all the homes that were open that day. Excellent docents at some of the houses. Others just open to go in and look at displays. Very unusual with homes from the 1600s to the 1940s, from elegant to regular. Also lots of pretty gardens - flowers and herbs. Only complaint would be no food except packaged stuff, so eat before you go.

Very well done. We spent about 5 hours here. As Europeans, we found the houses and interiors really interesting - we don't have many examples of 17/18th century middle class houses in UK. Staff very welcoming. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Strawbery Banke Museum is a real gem in a gem of a city. There are many things to see and do and learn from here. While the grounds are small it is loaded with local history. My son when he was young was a part of an archaeological dig . . . they discovered many unique items that are now on display. Take the kids there . . . a great day trip. It is very well run.

Spent almost 3 hours here and enjoyed every minute. Who knew there was so much early colonial history in Porsmouth, NH. There are restored and partially restored houses dating from the 1600's to the 1800's. There are beautiful gardens, knowledgable guides and even some historical renactors who stay in character no matter how hard you try to crack them up. We really enjoyed our visit.

We love to walk around the old roads and gardens at night.
