My family members help maintain the gardens here, and they gave us the "nickel tour" of this beautiful historic site. Just to see the gaze on the historic HorseChestnut tree, that was planted from seed brought back from the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia is pretty cool. Definitely worth a visit.

Our tour guide was excellent and it was only the two of us on the tour, so it was our own private tour! Beautiful home in the process of being restored from it's 1794 beauty. Wonderful gardens. Cute gift shop. Amazing furniture and woodwork details in the home

This 1763 home and garden is a worthwhile tour while in Portsmouth. Captain John Moffatt built an impressive 3 story house on the waterfront and 6 generations of his family lived there. Moffatt's daughter married William Whipple, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, who lived there also. The tour guide was very good and the gardens are beautiful. There is a 2 for 1 Entertainment Book coupon and they also have a AAA discount. Regular admission is $6.

Be sure to get a narrated tour because there is much to learn as you explore this house. The wallpaper itself is worth the price of admission. Check out the chestnut tree and also the gardens out back.
