Our daughter and her partner were overseas as we were planning their wedding which could have led to all kinds of problems. The staff at The Common Man were understanding, extremely helpful and patient with the many, many emails they received from us. The reception was more than we could have hoped for - the food was delicious, the rooms for our out-of-town guests were beautiful, and we received many, many compliments on the venue. We highly recommend them for their lodgings and any event that you want to stand out. Thank you so much for making the day a beautiful memory!

Room tip: They have pet-friendly rooms that are outstanding!

You know from the moment you enter this converted mill, you know you are somewhere very special. Welcoming, friendly, quirky, historic, fascinating, comfortable are just a few of the adjectives I could use to describe this hidden gem.

I would strongly advise that you take advantage of the fantastic bar and restaurant, the food is really high quality and plentiful - the puddings in particular are delicious but huge so make sure you leave room.

The rooms are individual, comfortable and spacious, the bathroom products are lovely and available to buy at incredible reasonable prices from the inn shop (which I did ).

What can I say about breakfast at the Comman Man - it is a true experience. The food is great but Chef Thomson is the true star - I promised him I would spoil his imperfect reputation by uploading a really good review - this allegedly grumpy chef is a really fine cook and no matter what he may say is a warm, funny and interesting man.

This inn and all it’s staff are truly fantastic!

Had a wonderful stay here after seeing Marc Cohn at the Flying Monkey. Stayed in an upgraded room, only room left so a bit pricey. The room was huge with two queen beds, a fireplace and sitting area, very nicely appointed separate sink outside master bath. Bed was super comfortable, firm and supportive but still cozy and nice linens and pillows. Slept better than at home! Dinner in restaurant very good, a cool atmosphere and great service. Prices very reasonable. Had a drink at bar after concert, only disappointment was that the place closes at 11 pm on a sat night. That was a let down. Next morning, enjoyed a quick yummy breakfast and a great bike ride in and around the area, beautiful and very bike friendly. Nice bike shop attached to property. The spa is worth checking out, nice little salt pool, jacuzzi and full spa services in a very relaxing space. I had a massage with Mary that needs repeating. Highly recommend this as an option. Note to mngt; build more pet friendly rooms! I’d like to return with family and furry kids but booked thru August.

Went up to catch a show at The Flying Monkey, and stayed at The Common Man. We had been there before. The staff is always ready to cater to everything you might need. We even got a complimentary upgrade in room, which was cool. Room was great, and free breakfast hit the spot before we hit the road... All in all, a great place.
