We made a last minute dinner reservation and were seated in the bar area, which was very nice and comfortable. The food was very good even though it was a little pricey but the menu was extensive and we had a nice meal. The service was excellent.

It is the best restaurant in Pittsburg. They usually have a wild game special but if you are not that brave the menu has a good varied selection. They also have a pub menu if you want a smaller meal. Make a reservation it fills up if you go during peak seasons,

I didn't expect much of the restaurant they had at the Tall Timber Lodges and after all we really came for the solitude, the fishing, and the moose watching.

We got the solitude; fishing was OK, but no moose whatsoever!!! I don't think they exist.

But what a surprise then we went to this restaurant (a mere 300 feet from our cabin) and were treated to an absolutely fantastic dinner of strip steak ($24.00) and a filet mignon ($28.00) with Montreal seasoning. OMG what a pleasant surprise. Both meats were specifically prepared to our request and were sinfully delicious! I had opted to make my lodge reservations without the all-inclusive package as we always like to explore different restaurants wherever we go, but guess what!!! We eat at the Rainbow both nights we were there anyway. Probably cost us extra but it was worth it. We even did our breakfasts there!!!

With comfy north country/Adirondack style furnishings to a view of the Back Lake from most tables the place just oozes of good country living.

The duckling (($25.00) we had the second night could have been crispier but very tasty and had plenty of meat on it.

Good coffee and a Crème Brule Cheesecake topped off out first dinner.

From Steve (bartender from NJ) to Brooke and Melanie the service was great though the place is typically busy and so the servers as stretched somewhat thin. Thanks to Corinne at the desk and the entire family for running a great operation!

I highly recommend this restaurant but get reservations!!! The places hops all night!!

This is our fourth year and the food has been incredible each and every time. I requested an entrée slightly off the menu, coconut crusted chicken, and it was the best meal I have ever had. Breakfast is incredible. DO NOT pass the oatmeal by. It is worth it.

My date and I arrived at the Rainbow Grille for an early dinner on a busy holiday (Labor Day) weekend. After waiting for several minutes to be greeted by the hostess, our "welcome" was less than friendly. We were hoping to eat in the restaurant, but were quickly chastised for not having a reservation. The hostess, Linda, informed us that all she could offer us was the pub menu in the Tavern. We gladly accepted and she hurriedly led us to the bar area. While there were 2-3 empty tables, all had "reserved" signs on them, holding them for times as far as one and a half hours from the current time. Linda left us in the bar area without any indication of where she would like us to sit. There were also reservation signs holding seats at the bar. We looked to the bar tender (Tonya) and a couple of wait staff for some guidance, but all were too stressed to offer any assistance. We decided to grab two seats at the end of the crowded bar.

We were able to place a drink order pretty quickly and the drinks we were served were satisfactory. The service really went downhill from there, however. We had to summon the bar tender for any food or drink order after that point. Sometimes she would respond. Other times she was either ignoring us or was so deep in her busy-ness that she did not hear us. After finally placing our food order and allowing quite a long time for our soup appetizer to be delivered, we had to ask the bar tender to check on its status. It was pretty apparent that she had either forgotten to place the order or that when she did it was pushed aside. Once we were served our soup, we found it to be delicious. Again, however, we had to track down our main course after allowing ample time for it to be delivered. The meals were also tasty.

Long story short, we enjoyed good to very good food and drinks but horrible (verging on unfriendly) customer service. It seems that being one of the only shows in town has made it okay for the management to allow for the poor treatment of customers and just bad service, in general.
