“Very Clean Lodge.”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I stayed in the Lodge with friends for two nights, it is very clean, the beds were a bit too firm. Our toilet seat broke in the night, but they fixed it. WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE: We were charged $16.80 lodging gratuity which we weren't told about. When we asked about it, we were informed that it was for the housekeeping in our room. We didn't know we had an option, WE WEREN'T ADVISED AT CHECK-IN OR ANYTIME. The funny thing is that my friends made there beds and we didn't shower unitl the night before we left, so there wasn't anything to do besides bring fresh linens. Forget the WIFI, you can get online but can't read you email or get onto any sites unless you go down to the lobby and sit next to where the modem is. I made my reservations 1 1/2 weeks ahead of time and tried to cancel after after a couple of days and I was informed at that time that the cancellation policy is two weeks. This is on the website but not in the obvious spot with the reservations, it is in the FAQ's. I was disappointed that I wasn't told while making my reservation. FORGET THE MOOSE-We were told by residents and highway workers that the moose have died from the ticks and most have migrated. It is very difficult to see one in this area anymore.

Thank you for staying with us recently and thank you also for your comments on how we can improve our customers' experiences.

While we strive to make sure that all of our policies are well communicated through our staff, website and printed literature, occasionally that does not always happen. We are happy to answer any questions regarding our policies that you may have prior to, during and after your stay with us.

It appears as though our maid service gratuity charge was not well communicated to you by our staff when you booked your reservation, so we have refunded the maids gratuity charge to you. While this is a voluntary charge for our guests, many of our guests find it a convenient way to take care of their gratuity for our maids' efforts.

The WIFI here at the lodge can be temperamental, but works very well downstairs in the main lobby. I'm afraid that our location in northern NH makes it tough to offer dependable, speedy WIFI service that you may find elsewhere. Hopefully Pittsburg's natural beauty makes it a bit easier to put down the wireless devices when you're up here.

While the moose population is undoubtedly less than it was ten years ago, we still have quite a few of the critters left up here. They have become more difficult to see in recent years, for a variety of reasons. We are encouraged that the N.H. Fish & Game Department has pledged to take actions to restore the herd to its former level.

We hope you visit our area again and stay with us when you do,

Tom Caron

I have stayed at Tall Timbers twice: once in 2011 for five days with my son and again in 2013 for a weekend with a group of five family members. Wherever you live in the world, find this place and come here. The area is beautiful and remote. The lodge is the best of it's kind in New England, The people who run it and work here are wonderful. The restaurant is the best in Northern NH. The fishing and guides and great. I could go on and on, but I have a life to live. I love this place and my three sons cannot wait to return.

Wow, what a place to get away. Lodge is directly located on Back Lake. Room rentals or cabin rentals. Very clean place through out. Comfortable and north country feel. Friendly staff too. Can't say enough about our first visit and certainly not our last this past weekend. A place to go for all seasons. For outdoor activities or just to hang around and unwind. Loved it.

Nestled on the shores of Back Lake 20 miles from the Canadian border this place is primo for those wanting to really get away (no cell phone coverage and only the main lobby has Wifi) and experience some great scenery and solitude.

This was our first time there and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Stayed at the Hemlock cabin just steps from the water's edge. The cabins all have porches and fire pits/campfires.

Be aware that some of the cabins have really low ceilings so those of us that are over 6' should take care when passing from one room to another. The bedrooms are cramped and there were no closets to speak of in our cabin. The kitchens are small but have everything you need if you're inclined to make you own meals. But consider the onsite Rainbow Grille and Tavern for your meals as it is one of the best restaurants I have been to in the states!!

Having power boats moored at their docks available for a mere $40/day makes it exciting to explore Back Lake and fish from the boat. Careful when you head to the northern tip of the lake as it is deceivingly shallow there. Lake Francis and the two Connecticut Lakes nearby are also worth a visit just for the scenic value.

Made a facial appointment for my wife and she still raves about it 2 weeks after we came home!! They also have a small shop on premise and are 1/2 mile from Moose Alley where allegedly you can see some moose in the early dawn and at dusk.

Our lodge ran s little over $200/day and I'm sure some of their "luxurious" units may cost a little more but if you really want to get away this place will accommodate you.

Lake Francis and the two nearby Connecticut Lakes are worth a visit as well if just for their scenic value.

Room Tip: Make sure the cabin you get has enough headroom as some are really tiny

Thanks again for staying with us recently and we're glad that you were able to get away from it all for some time while you were with us. It appears as though you were able to sample many of the great activities that our area offers while you were here.

Thank you also for your kind comments about our restaurant, the Rainbow Grille - it's pretty hard to beat, and will probably make a new diet necessary when you get home!

We hope to have you visit us again in the future.

One weekend a year, we treat ourselves to a trip to Tall Timber Lodge. You fall asleep to the sounds of the loons and the lapping of the waves. We have stayed in a lodge room, apartment and cabins. All were exceptional. This visit was in Spruce #7. No disappointment there. Can't wait until next year.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room.

As usual, The Caron family and their dear staff made our stay perfect. We have been going fo Tall Timber for approximately the last 17-18 years. That itself is evidence how fantastic Tall Timber is.
The apartment was great, the atmosohere was just what we were looking for. Peaceful beauty.
We can't say enough wonderful things about this stay and every stay. Once you stay once you will wonder why you waited so long to try it out.
We give it a billion stars in every category.

My wife and I rented an ATV in Colebrook and rode 68 miles via the trail system to the Lodge. The journey was great but once we go to the Lodge it got even better. We were greeted by a perfect cabin with a wonderful view of the lake, a super dinner and a wonderful breakfast. Staff was very friendly as was the big hound in the lobby. There are nice boats and ample fishing.

Room Tip: Get a cabin.

Thanks again for visiting us a couple of weeks ago and we're glad that you had such a good time in your short stay with us. The expanded ATV trail system in Pittsburg and the surrounding towns has opened many recreational opportunities to enjoy the northern New Hampshire landscape and it should only get better and better.

We hope you're able to take the time to visit our area again.
