Margie and I stayed at Bear Tree's "Little Fry" on First Connecticut Lake for the first time Sept 23-28, 2011. We expected temperatures in the 40s and 50s with perhaps a frosty night or two. We had some rain and mist on Fri & Sat, but by noon Sunday, the sky cleared and the next few days were weather-perfect: clear skies, dry air, temps in the upper 60s and lower 70s. We expected to stay in and read, and we did, but we also drove 14 miles down the Magalloway Rd. We stopped to see the Garfield Falls (worth the trip), and we jumped a small cow moose that was grazing in a wetlands area along the road. She didn't stay long enough for pictures. We also saw a male pheasant run across the road. At the Second Connecticut Lake, we heard and then saw a flock of canada geese and a loon. Did I forget to mention that the fall colors were awesome? They were just about at peak. At the camp, we saw ducks and loons every day. The camp had everything we needed and it was very clean and well maintained. To top the whole experience off, we sat in adirondack chairs on the shore of the lake in front of the cabin, listened to the water lap the rocks on the shore, and looked up into the clearest sky we've seen since we were children in northern Maine and Alaska. It was the perfect fall weekend. Oh, and no cell phone service. Great!!!

My wife and I fell in love with Bear Tree! We had our first stay in July of 2011 and plan to come back again and again. We fell in love with everything - the view of the lake from our front porch, the coziness of our cabin, the ducks and wildlife that came to greet us as we stepped out in the morning to name just a few of the highlights.

We have stayed many places over the years, and other places in Pittsburgh, NH, but plan to make this our home away from home for years to come. I simply cannot say enough good things about the Bear Tree cabins and the wonderful staff!

Room Tip: Ask about the many cabins Bear Tree has available. Some are smaller than others but they all seem t...

We are thrilled the Bear Tree will be your home away from home! Little Fry seems to have that effect on people! We hope to see you again soon...maybe over the winter, do a little snowshoeing, snowmobiling?! Thank you for your comments, we really appreciate it! Best to you both, and Happy Autumn! Chantal

We go to Bear Tree once a year. Usually we rent Little Fry but have stayed at some of their other cabins as well. Loved them all!! Georgie & her staff are fabulous!!

This year we decided to get married there. I rented two of Bear Tree's lakeside cabins (Little Fry & Salmon Leap) on the 1st Connecticut Lake, and the Sophia Suite at the Inn which I thought would be more comfortable for my mom. The bed was HUGE and comfy, the room clean and comfortable. Her only complaint was the remote control for the TV was a bit confusing, but Georgie and Chantal were able to get it working for her.

My other guests shared, and loved Salmon Leap. The cabin is spacious, clean and gorgeous inside! Little Fry was perfect for my husband and I (as usual). We can't wait to go back for our anniversary.

I highly recommend Bear Tree. You won't find a better accommodations for the price or hospitality anywhere else! Love you guys!! Can't wait to see you again!

My Partner and I stayed in the Woodland Cabins at Bear Tree and cannot wait to go back!!

We Were up to play at our very good friends wedding and are so glad for their choice for many reasons. The ENTIRE staff at Bear Tree made this special weekend all that much more special by their friendly, accommodating, and professional attention to each and every guest they had staying with them or visiting for the nuptials. Chantal the Wedding Coordinator/ Events planner was amazing she was the very best events planner my partner has EVER interacted with in his many dealings with various planners over his professional musical/singing career as both a member of the CCSO, as well as Choir Director. George one of the owners of the Bear Tree Cabins was so cute, hospitable, and a treat to deal with as well. if you are ever looking for a homey, comfortable, warm & welcoming, place to stay with breathtaking views you MUST really choose this remarkable place to stay!!!!!

My boyfriend and I recently spent one night in Pittsburg to attend a wedding. Unable to stay in a cabin because of the two-night minimum, we opted for the Inn at Bear Tree. When booking the room, I was corresponding via email with Chantal, who was very responsive and super pleasant.

When we arrived, the hostess/waitress very graciously brought us up to our room, as the Inn has a restaurant called Murphy’s on the first floor. The Magalloway suite was very cozy and immaculately clean, and the view was beautiful!

The hospitality at this inn is truly remarkable... I felt as comfortable at the Bear Tree as I do in my own home.

P.S. If you have a chance before you check out, make sure to eat breakfast at Murphy’s! Great service, and delicious food. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay and were sorry to leave-- if we had known how great, relaxing and beautiful it was-- we would have planned a longer stay-- The cabins are roomy and beautiful and all well planned out for comfort-- fully stocked for all needs!
The owners-- The Lyons--are the most hospitable pair I have ever met-- ever. They will provide anything you need continuously and are truly gracious. Also enjoyed their Murphy's Steakhouse restaurant,- closeby- immensely. Anything these owners do is always top- notch--! Trust me-- Simply do not think twice!!! Just stay with them in the cabins and enjoy the restaurant too-- without any hesitation. We loved every minute! Renie G.
