North Hampton State Beach, not to be confused with North Beach near Little Boars Head in Hampton, is usually a less-crowded beach than the beaches in Hampton as it’s away from the busy area around the arcades at Hampton Beach State Park to the south.

With fewer people visiting the beach, it’s cleaner than the busier beaches in the area.

This beach has a bathhouse and metered parking. Rates are $2.00 per hour from May 1st to September 30th and $1.00 per hour In April and October. Cash, credit cards, and debit cards are accepted.

On the day of my visit, it was overcast, but rain held off.

There were few people on the beach. The lifeguards were not up on the elevated chairs. They were sitting on the beach. That may have been procedure for when the yellow flag was out. That signified ‘Medium Hazard’ with moderate surf and/or currents. Being down on the beach would give them a faster response time in an emergency rescue situation.

At lunchtime, I went across the street to The Beach Plum for lunch.

I rate North Hampton State Beach at 4.25.

You don't have to drive to Maine to find a nice beach. This beach has a wide area to find a spot on the sand. The public bathrooms are a plus. For day trips recommend going during the week, parking is more available and less expensive. Avoid weekends when it seems that half the world is there.

I like that you can pay by the hour for parking here. The bathrooms were nice and clean there is even inclosed diaper changing area. There is an outdoor shower and foot shower to get the sand off. There is a beach plum across the street if your hungry or want some ice cream!
