“A Wonderful Birthday Weekend Retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

My boyfriend and I recently stayed with Rich and Sue at the beautiful Old Red Inn. We had a lovely room with a propane gas stove, private bath and chocolates and pretty wine glasses to use as well when we arrived. We felt bad about arriving late (well after 10pm) but Sue greeted us with a warm smile and showed us to our room. "Breakfast will be served between 8 and 9:30," she told us as she left us to relax.

After a wonderful night's sleep, we headed downstairs to breakfast. Hot coffee, juices and ski reports for four of the local resorts were waiting for us. Rich brought us in some delicious home made-bread and fruit to start with, followed by a hearty, hot breakfast that was prepared with so much love you could taste it. We lingered after breakfast, chatting with Rich & Sue along with the other guests who were staying in the cottages.

After a great day of skiing, (with discounted tickets provided to us by Sue) we returned back to the Inn to a box of elegant chocolates that were for "the birthday boy:" How very thoughtful!

We stayed three nights and utterly enjoyed every minute. I cannot thank Sue and Rich enough for the hospitality and pure love they showed us. They truly treat their guests like family. And funny they are! Did i mention that?? What good story tellers. We spent our last evening in the parlor with them both enjoying some coffee and wine.

I highly recommend the Old Red inn for your next stay in the North Conway area. You will be delighted! Sue & Rich, we can't wait to come back and see you again! Thank you for making our weekend so special!

This was our first visit to the Old Red Inn. We stayed in one of the cottages. The cottage was beautiful and cozy. The inn keepers Rich and Susan were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast exceptional. plan on returning to this Inn with every ski trip. The Inn itself was convenient to all North Conway attractions.

We surprised our kids with a trip to the Polar Express which we were only able to get by staying earlier in the fall at Old Red Inn. The owner told us they had 4 first class tickets available with a great room in the actual house. Not only did we love the room, the kids were treated to some great gifts and the owners Susan and Rich played along with our weekend of surprises including the Polar Express, Santa's Village and cutting down our own Christmas tree. These people go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable, and know the area very well. Their suggestions to keep our 5, 8 and 5 month old busy were right on the money. We have also stayed in the cottages which are perfect for our family with two bedrooms, a little kitchenette and a screen porch. You can't be more centrally located in North Conway then this place. I highly recommend this gem.

This was our third visit to the Old Red Inn and each time has been a treat. The location of this Inn is fantastic. Easy to get to the Outlet Stores, within walking distances of Conway Scenic Railroad and the small shops in the area. We have only have stayed in the cottages, as it makes a perfect place for our children to enjoy vacation. No need to worry about the people in the room next to you. This time we stayed for 3 days/2 nights “Dec. 7-9” as we were going on the Polar Express. We had cottage number 7. The cottage was neat and clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. Dick and Sue have always been gracious host and make you feel at home. The best part of this Polar Express package is that it comes with 1st class tickets something most other resorts do not offer, but must pay more to get if you can. Each of our children got a great gift bag full of goodies and a stuffed animal. The picture that they took in front of the tree came out great as we used it for our Christmas card.

FYI: They are also part of the Cookie Tour that my wife and daughter will take when my daughter gets older.

We had a great family vacation. 4 nights. and 5 incredible breakfasts!!! The location is ideal. We were very comfortable in our cottage and made to feel like family at the Inn. Anything you need, just ask! We even packed up the kids one night, with popcorn, cocoa and monopoly and set up in the comfy cozy living room for a great game night. Goodies and treats offered at night... so sweet. I'm sure it would be great in the summer with the pool right there too. and such a plus that our little puppy was welcome too. We will be back!!

Room Tip: Cottage was comfortable, but shower stall only is not conducive for young kids. A Removable shower h...

Luckily, we had light snow during our visit which made the Inn and cottages that much more charming. The owners, were extremely friendly and helpful, making us all feel right at home. Our cottage #6, was very clean, warm, and fit our family of 5 pretty well. We did stop in the Inn one night for the cookies and hot cocoa and spent a lovely hour or so talking to the owners. Unfortunately we did not have breakfast at the Inn, due to other plans so I cannot rate that aspect. Location is perfect, right in the middle of North Conway.

I have been a guest at the Old Red Inn & Cottages for the last 5 years along with my childhood friend. Ever since I told her that I wanted to stay in a cabin just like I used to when I was a child travelling with my family, she knew exactly where to stay! It was exactly like I remember.
In these days of cookie cutter hotel rooms, there is something special about staying here. Dick and Sue (And Rudy and Holly) are the perfect hosts. We are beginning to feel like they are long time friends.
If you want to stay in a room like any other and not experience something special, go ahead and say in any hotel in town. You will be missing an experience.
We will continue to stay here every year. It feels like a home away from home.
