“A Great Experience!”

The Farm is a great place for a relaxing get-away. The house is large and comfortable with all the New England charm you could want. Rick, one of the inn keepers, said its been in his family for many generations. Our room was a good size with tasteful decorations. It was connected by a bathroom to another room which was perfect for our 4 year old daughter. The breakfasts are big and yummy. Fresh fruits, homemade muffins, eggs, pancakes. Really good coffee, too!

Charlene, Rick's wife and the other inn keeper, has created a beautiful garden to walk around complete with a hammock to read a book in. There is a wonderful old, red barn filled with beautiful horses that you can ride around the large property. If you ride through the meadow in the back you reach the river. There are plenty of places to hike in the area and lots of lakes to swim in (when it's warmer!).

Rick and Charlene (and their great dog Lucy) were wonderful hosts. They helped us out with finding local restaurants, places to hike and other points of interest. We will definitely come back - maybe next time in the winter for the sleigh ride!

We bought the elopement package here and had 21 guests attend our outdoor ceremony. A few of our closer friends stayed with us at the farm the night of the wedding. The six of us hung out in the living room later that night for celebration drinks. It was a very relaxed environment where it was easy to feel comfortable. Sharing a breakfast table was really neat and i thought breakfast was great, yummy and attractive....good coffee (a must)

Our room was awesome, it seemed small but there was so much in there!!! It was very cozy with the thermostat fireplace (hassle free), and the bubble tub...so sweet!!! Great views of the horse pasture and Mount Cranmore. The bed was increadibly comfortable, a very pleasant surprise.

I look forward to coming back for our anniversaries to come.

P.S. Lucy is a very sweet old dog who i think looks good for her age.

We really enjoyed our weekend at the Farm. From the minute we walked in the innkeepers Rick and Charlene made you feel right at home. We found plenty to do between hiking, shopping, and horseback riding. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed watching the horses from our room. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time at the Farm By the River Bed and Breakfast, which also
has a riding stables for horseback and sleigh rides. I like the way they
have kept the old fashioned charm with oriental rugs and antiques passed
down over the centuries and blended them with modern luxuries such as
Jacuzzi and fireplaces and wireless internet access. They chose to keep us
away from daily reminders of home such as phones ringing and the tv blaring.

We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms with a two-person Jacuzzi tub and
fireplace. The room had hardwood floors and oriental rugs. The views from
the room were spectacular as we looked out to the beautiful private acreage
of pastures filled with about 15 horses, woods and mountains beyond. We
could sit in the Jacuzzi and look out to a ski mountain lit up at night and
watch the sleigh rides come and go from our window. We took a lovely sleigh
ride at dusk in a white sleigh pulled by two draft horses - it was
absolutely beautiful and romantic for the two of us. A first for both of us.
Then the next day we trekked out in the snow on horseback.

We enjoyed talking with the other guests while having a fireside breakfast-
so cozy!. What a relaxing time sitting by the fireplace in the evening and
talking with the other guests and hosts. Rick told us stories about the
farm as its been in his family since 1771 and Charlene was really helpful
about things to do and restaurants to go to. The staff was great too. All in
all it was a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This seems like the real New England experience. I will recommend this to
all my friends and can't wait to come back in the summer when their garden
is in bloom and we can have breakfast on the patio deck and swim in the
river.

I have returned from another stay at the Farm by the River Bed & Breakfast in North Conway, New Hampshire, and had my usual excellent time there. I was in the Father's/Ellen's suite with a friend, stayed for four wonderful days and had four great breakfasts. Typical breakfast fare includes blueberry pancakes, French toast and my personal favorite, Belgian waffles, usually with homemade blueberry muffins as a side dish, plus fresh fruit and all the juice, coffee or tea you can consume.

Rick and Charlene Davis (and their charmer Weimeraner Lucy) have always been such gracious hosts, and have always gone above and beyond the call for me. They often have coupons for local restaurants and always are able to make excellent dinner recommendations, as well as suggestions about places to go/things to do if I get stuck. The fireplace is so inviting on cold nights and always seems to be lit whenever I return in the evening after a chilly night out. I am something of an adventure traveler, and after days out hiking, climbing or skiing Rick has often put out a drying rack for my gear by the fireplace. The rooms are immaculate (I've stayed in several) and decorated with antiques and wonderful beds with lots of pillows. One of the nicest things about The Farm is its location (off busy Rt. 16) on West Side Road. It's still quite convenient to the shopping in North Conway and all the attractions in the Mt. Washington Valley, but being off the "main drag" means you can really relax there. The Farm also has stables, and horseback rides are available in the summer (which I have done, though I'm not much of an equestrian) and sleigh rides in the winter, both of which go down to the fields near the Saco ("the River" of the title).

And climbers take note: the Farm is virtually within walking distance of Whitehorse Ledge, and Cathedral Ledge is maybe a mile farther! Hikers: the trail to Diana's Baths and North Moat is a couple of minutes up the road. Also, by using West Side Rd., you can easily cut off time to the Kancamagus Highway to the south or Crawford Notch to the north instead of sitting in traffic on Rt. 16. Cyclists: West Side Road has one shoulder set aside as a bike path, a great relaxing ride by itself with very little up and down, or a pleasant connector to more challenging routes. Skiers: the alpine attractions of Cranmore, Attitash and Wildcat are all within an hour's drive, plus there's nordic skiing (my favorite) at Bear Notch, Jackson, Great Glen and Bretton Woods.

Whether you want a nice relaxing vacation sitting by the fireplace or watching the horses in the pasture, or an adrenaline rush doing some of the outdoor activites the White Mountains have been famous for over the years, you'll find it at this B&B. Highly recommended.

I have been staying at the Farm by the River at least twice a year for the past eight years. It has become my home away from home. There are not many places that you can travel to, sit in the living room by the fire and be completely relaxed. Everyone, from the innkeepers to other guests, are always friendly, courteous and willing to go that extra mile to make your stay at the inn what you want it to be. I have met so many wonderful people at the Farm by the River. The comfortable and relaxing atmosphere enables its guests to join each other in the two living rooms to watch things like the SuperBowl and Olympics. There was one night where 7 of us, all having just met that night, went to one of the local restaurants for dinner. If you would rather spend some quiet time, the living room with the fireplace is great. No one gives it another thought when you end up falling asleep on the couch. Now that I have found my home away from home, I will not stay anywhere else.
