This was awesome. View was approx 130 miles. Temp was 38 but chill factor was 23. Wind was 40 mph with gust to 60 mph. You could drive up (some people do) but the cog railway was great (expensive, but great).
We were surprised at the cost ,$40 for 2 adults in our own car. What was more surprising was that it was worth every penny. The staff are happy to answer any questions you have and the views are second to none in the area . The museum was interesting and informative. We didn’t ride the cog but might the next time we go . We will definitely go back the next time we are up for a visit
We took the Mount Washington Auto Road the first week in October. It's amazing to go from for us full of trees of every color to the top where you're above the tree line. Very interesting and fun.
Went up Mount Washington in the fall of 19 , but before you go do some homework first! Check the weather at the top before you go up, as you go through 4 different climates on the way up also check wind speed as its not going to be very nice standing in a howling gale also if you drive up make sure if you have an automatic gearbox you know how to use the manual settings in drive before you descend as the car in front of us brakes were almost on fire at the bottom of the mountain . Luckily we had the most gorgeous day at the summit and kept the car in first gear most of the way down so as to let the engine slow the car rather than using the brakes !
The majority of reviewers have this location wrong. This is the MUSEUM in North Conway, not the observation station on the top of Mt. Washington. Look at the address provided.
The Museum in North Conway is very small with 1 main room of exhibits. The exhibits are very well done. There is an admission fee, but it is small. Make sure to watch the short film. It was great!
Our kids loved all the interactive exhibits.
Our family spent about an hour exploring the place.
If you’re not a good driver, leave it to the experienced. The toad up and down is scary. The views at the top make it all worth while. Bundle up as its usually windy and less 20+ degrees at the top
